do 2-way speakers have built in crossovers?(i'm talking about the infinity reference 5X7's). My components come with crossovers, so will i damage the speakers if i run alot of power to them without crossovers?

Usually it is just a capacitor... You might be able to see it if you look for it. As long as you do not run more than their RMS power rating to the speakers, you'll be fine. Infinity makes good equipment. JTang 08-14-2002, 02:06 PM They usually have build in crossovers simply to block out the low frequency from the tweeter, but I don't think they have the ability to block highs from the cone. Most importantly, they do not block out really low tones from the cone that would cause it to sound bad. For that you'd need a dedicated crossover to block out tones too low for the mids to play.
