I have a 97 V8 XLT AWD. When I changed the front factory pads at about 30K, they "overlapped" the polished area of the rotor by about 1/4inch. The part of the pad that overlapped rubbed the rough, unpolished metal of the rotor, which wore a deeper groove on th pad in that area. The replacement pads (Albany) for that make and model did the same, so I ignored it. I replaced the pads again at about 60K, and the replacements were still larger than the rotor. I don't get any noticable noise, and braking seems sufficient, but I was wondering if this is normal, or perhaps I have rotors for a V6 or something? Anyone else notice this?
