I want to get either the 98, 99, or 03 cobra wheel for my 98 explorer AWD, Does anyone know the offset and back spacing on those wheels, and will they even fit on my explorer, and Another thing, I pull a boat, do you think these wheels will be strong enough to pull a boat on?? Link below

i think all will fit EXEPT the 99's. i may be mistaken, but i think FrankRizzo got one and tried it, and the hub would not fit the front. and his is not the 1st gen. 4x4 with the big manual hubs. go with the 03's, IMHO. no one has those, and they look cool. as far as backspacing, it will work. you will probably have the same minor problems as the rest of us with the '95 R's have. and as for towing, i do so quite often with mine. you will be fine.

Are you sure that the 99s will not fit, cause those are the ones Im really wanted to buy, cause they are polished, and you got to have something with alittle flair?

I thought FrankRizzo tried the 98. I may be mistaken.

if those 99 wheels do fit, I am getting those, but they are made of aluminum, do you think they will be strong enought to tow a 19 foot boat? Im going to be running the 275/55 perelli scorpion zeros..will they be stong eoungh to hold up to the weight of explorers

yes, they will tow fine. as i said, i tow with mine. all of the
stang wheels are aluminum, whether they are polished,
chrome, or the painted grey. you can tow your boat without
any worries.

98Cobra 17 X 8 D178's:

I've heard both ways on these wheels,

but I know for sure they will not fit on the front of a 2000 - 2WD - Explorer without removing the center caps and letting the wheel bearing dust caps poke thru. EE says they will fit on a AWD, but given the they have NEVER been correct in any of the techincal information I have gotten out of them, I do not place much faith in their words....

If somebody wants to buy the wheel, it's brand new in the box...$50 plus shipping...

to you question... YES... the 99-01 Cobra wheels will fit. 17x8's.....

The 99 cobra wheels are silver and the 01's are silver or polished... they never made a 00 cobra besides the cobra R

I have 01 polished cobra rims off my 84 mustang that I use on my explorer... they fit fine and look killer. If my friend will fix his server I have the pictures on the net...

try www.jasonh.net/saleenlimited and look under explorer... they are near the bottom

Frank, can you figure out shipping costs to 40121 i would be looking into purchasing that wheel from you since i have a '97 4wd without the big dust cover i think it may fit, but if you can get back with me on shipping charges to 40121.

Other than the dust cap issue did the wheels fit on there good, as in was the offset good? thanks man

also i can't see the pic you posted can you please post another pic

and another thing was this wheel purchased through gefracing.com?
