hey everyone, I am seriously thinking about getting a green neon underbody kit to go with my green neon interior. I can get a good deal on a liteglow kit off of ebay, but i still dont know if i want to spend that much on somthing that people may consider "lame, cheesy ect" yeah i know, do what i like and dont worry about what other peopel think, but i dont know if i want it or not. just let me know yea or neigh. thanks!!

I voted NO!! Too ghetto for me, although some discreetely placed neons around a sound system would not be so bad.

Like you said, Do What YOU Want!

I personally don't like the neon on the outside of the truck. I am starting to dig some of this neon and LED stuff inside the truck I am seeing on the boards these days. Maybe if I am real bored one day and want a creative project, I'll do a little.

But honestly........by asking this forum, I believe you are just going to get a lot of yeahs and neighs. I don't think it is going to help you in your decision.

Thats a big NEGATIVE for me. I wouldn't put any in or outside my truck anyway. But you should do what you want to do. You can't please all the people all the time.

I said yes.. I dig the look of neon's and have thought about putting a couple in my truck. But really, it does come down to whether or not YOU want it on there. Besides, it's bound to turn a couple heads :D

yes, but do what YOU want

PS liteglow sucks, get streetglow much better light

DarkFox1
09-02-2002, 11:29 AM
get off my neon!!!! there is NOTHING wrong with liteglow, I've had their underbody for 4 years and couldn't complain about the quality of the parts at all.

jonny 5

side by side, streetglow does give off a brighter glow, but quality is about the same for both

DarkFox1
09-02-2002, 11:40 AM
oh really? I've been beside tons of streetglow kits around here, I can't see where its any brighter than what I have, infact, some people buy that blueline stuff and its not even 1/4 as bright as what I have, the gold is equal perhaps a TINY bit brighter, not noticable tho.. everyone here has neon, its not uncommon to be able to compare. When I pull up next to someoen with neon and their car has blue all over it and their green/purple/red isn't all over my car.. its pretty obvious whos light is overpowering who

Fish Man

hmm...8 to 9, your right, didnt really help me make my decision. oh well, just wanted to see what you guys thought. dark fox- there are lots of cars with neon in augusta? I cant think of the last time i saw one here in marietta, thats weird. oh, and theres no way id get street glow. it may be a bit brighter and what not, but its also 3 times as much $$

Fish Man
09-12-2002, 10:24 PM
yeah, i decided to just get it, its supposidly on the way from a guy on ebay. $80 shipped for a 4 tube liteglow kit. i know im going to get alot of crap from people, but then again ill also have lots of people that like it. therefore i adopted a new quote: "##### naysayers cause they dont mean a thing." -311

Hrm i wonder if i could get some regular white flourescent bulbs and put them under my truck for rock lights.... mmm 6ft bulbs would provide plenty of illumination but i dont think theyd stand up to 4wheeling. :)

Sometimes neon can be cool, but most of the time it's way overdone and looks hideous.

I voted no, even though it's a little late now :p

But do what you want, just don't over do it :)

well, just an up date for everyone. i bought my kit on ebay. after a few days i emailed the guy cause he didnt tell me where to send his money ect. he says sorry, i was out of town. so i send him the money with ebay payments. after about 2 weeks i ask him whats the deal, still no kit. he says we had a back order on the underbody kits, it'll go out early this week. so about a week later his ebay account get shut down and leaves me $80 in the hole with no underbody kit! so now ill have to dispute it with the credit card company when the bill comes. when i do get my $$ back i will be spending it on a safari bar from Brandon4AU...not quite the flash of neon, but classier and less controversial ;)

Karma. It's getting you back for wanting neon :D

But seriously, that sucks. You'll probably be able to get the money back from the credit card company, and with a new safari bar you'll be good as ever! :)

Fish Man
10-09-2002, 02:51 PM
ha, yeah, that could be it. im not too worried about getting the money back, but we'll have to see how that goes. yeah, i think the safari bar will be pretty cool.

Namitey

I have an underbody and haven't brok'n anything wheel'n. Now I don't have a huge truck and play on rocks all day, but I have gotten plenty of use of my skidplates with no damage. I've even submerged them in water.

Just depends on where you mount them. If I break one I'd have to damage something else.

i have to defend myself a bit. I think if you don't go overboard and install it cleanly it looks lnice.

In mine I have 8 blacklight tubes under my seats which gives off a nice glow on the floorboard. The tubes aren't really noticable and the color isn't crazy. Also I have 6 blue tubes that are mostly hidden, except for the two on the tailgate that go witht the music. This accents the sound.

I do have some stobes so maybe I'm going a little ricey, but 'come on people. It's a ford that will soon be lifted, not a Honda or something else that's lowered. Also, I don't have a frigg'n coffee can for a tail pipe.

I think to many neons is tacky especially window washer lights. I have two neons inside my truck so I can actually see at night. I have 5% tint in all the windows and I can't see anything at night. Do what you want and screw everybody else.

Fish Man

yeah, ive had the neon in the interior for awhile. if i dont turn it on at night it seems like somthign is wrong. i have to have it on now

Like some other have said it's up to you and only you, i say if you want em get em. But, my opinion is that it is extremely easy to go overboard. I don't think they look extremely bad inside (of course done discretely). But on the outside, even though i'm probably tainted by the idiototic looking cars around here can look kinda cheesy, for example neon's around the liscence plate I hate. It up to you but don't let them be garish.

after i paint my truck i plan on matchign the paint with neons.

truck will be blue up front and white in the back and so will the neons- i'll only using them for show definitely. also i have some blue neon in the interior, but it is always behind tinted plexiglass when i use it.

I vote cool as long as its white.

flipped 98x

same here, I think they are alright as long as they are white.
When I had my X I thought about hooking them into my interior lights or puddle lights so they come on when I unlock my doors with my remote .

I voted no. You see enough neon on all the rice burners out there. Why would you want to put that stuf on the coolest looking SUV out there?

FreakZilla
11-16-2003, 12:27 PM
Only looks good when placed under the seats in the interior. Exterior neons are for imports.

I hear all the time about LiteGlow and StreetGlow but what about PlasmaGlow. Their neon comes with a better warranty, stronger, installation is easier, and the tubes are longer to start out with. I'm not talking about the whole length of the tube but the visable light from the tube.
Heck, why not go with PlasmaGlow's 7 Color LEDs Fusion Underbody Kit. Why buy one color in neon when you can get 7 colors in LEDs. Unlike LiteGlow's 100+ LED Underbody kit, which really sucks, PlasmaGlow has over 500 LEDs on theirs. Also the kit has 9 motion modes. Now yeah the price on PlasmaGlow's site sells the 7 Color LED Underbody kit for $399.99 with free shipping, but dealers sell them cheaper. Now they have 7 color wheel well kits. If you want to see what I'm taking about goto the site. PlasmaGlow (http://www.plasmaglow.com)

I`m with the ricey crowd, I don`t get the neon phenomenon, inside it can be cool, but those under the car setups seem kind of cheezy, I think I liked it for about five seconds the first time I saw it....
Maybe I`m too old!

It was somewhat cool about 5 yrs ago, but now it's just old and chesy, much like "Acid Wash jeans":D

here is mine now-

neon is very prevalent on nicely done show cars up here (as well as on ricey vehicles as well)

i like the way it looks on my car, and frankly it is something i needed to do in order to compete with the other vehicles in my area. Its just one more thing that needs to be done.

i very much do agree though, that when done wrong that it looks awful.

threads only a couple years old lol.... I'm gettin neons soon, strobes too...

expo5.0
09-27-2004, 02:04 PM
i absolutely hate strobes- lol.

well actually its not that i hate them, i just hate the idiots who put them on their cars and leave them on for hours on end at shows. It gets very annoying when your parked next to someone flashing you with a strobe light for 6 hours straight. Almost as bad as when they rev their pos car to 8k rpms every half hour for 6 hours like this one dude did.

I cant leave stuff on anyways I need voltage for my stereo lol... I'm only gonna have 4, on the inside probably anyways... pretty much everything's goin on the inside.

I installed a four tube streetglow gold series kit and think it looks great. I didn't want to overdo it, and actually think it could use a little more light in the grille and I plan on installing some in the bed and cab.

I did turquoise neon on an island blue trac.
