I have not done any research or anything, or gone to any shops, just thought i would ask all of ya'll before i went.

How much have ya'll paid to get your truck repainted. I want the same color and everything, i just want it redone. There is little to no body work to be done.

Also, a friend of mine has everythign we would need, including the knowledge for prepping the car for paint, like wet-sanding and what not. If we did all the prepping and body work, what would it take off the top of a paint job? I know ya'll don'thave much to go by, but i am just looking for guesstimates...

id say depending on shops and how good they are.. between 2-5k for the whole job.. probably not even half that if u did it urself.. just time consuming

Do you mean like paint the whole car? I don't have the resources or place to paint my X. I can do the prepping, and if that would take like half of it off, then it would be worth it...

Call a few shops in your area about just spraying the car. If you do all the prep sanding, body work, taping, and emblem, ect. removal it would be A LOT cheaper. All that stuff takes a lot of time. Spraying the paint itself takes a lot less time.

Or do what Randall (Muddwhore) did: buy a case of rattlecans and have fun!!

nah, i am not into the rattlecan stuff. I want a quality paint job that i would be proud of. I have a street-ified Explorer, and i like it to look really nice, i wash it at least once a week, sometimes twice, i am very picky about my truck.

I just removed my pinstriping and tomorrow the body molding is going to go, then i am gunna go around talking to some shops....

Much of the problem with preping it your self is no body shop in it's right mind will warrenty a paint job with some one else prep work.
Then there is do you paper it up there at their shop in their way ? If you paper it up at your place then how are you gonna get it to their shop ? Remember to clean it real well with preps-all ( anti-static degreaser ) once you get it to their shop.
Just make sure you have covered all your bases man.
Good luck to ya !

Yea, that was my only problem. I would have to find a way to figure out how to get all the paper and such to the shop, or just pay them to do the papering when i got there, after i did all the other work.

I dunno, i would only have about $1300 to spend on it right now, maybe i'll just save up and get them to do everything and get a warrenty on the whole deal. I dunno, i'll figure something out. Maybe i can find a sponor, like my Uncle or sumthin. That would be good, or one of you guys could just send me a big fat $2000 check.
