View Full Version : Will 2 new tires make me bind up?

About 3 or 4 months ago I got a set of Pirelli Scorpion Zero's on my Cobra R's and due to some alignment problems, 2 of them are ruined. Let me just say that Goodyear messed up when doing the alignment. I am doing some research and getting my ammo all lined up so I can go in and shoot down one Goodyear employee after another. I want a new set of tires out of these people. I have only put about 3,000-4,000 miles on these and the inside of the fronts are worn down considerably (found that out when I went to rotate them). The back tires are good as new except they have 3-4,000 on them. My question is, if they try to tell me that they will give me 2 new tires instead of 4, will that make my auto 4x4 bind up? I know the diameter of the tire wont be that different but there will still be a difference. I can feel it binding now in turns and stuff. So, what do you think? 2 tires or 4?

It's always better to get 4 at a time. As for goodyear places, they suck! After going through 2 sets of tires due to Ford and Goodyear alignments, I finally started going to an independent place that my grandfather uses. Since that alignment, it's been 2 years and many offroading trips and it's still perfect.

They will undoubtedly go for the two tire deal. They will say the alignment problemonly affected those two, so the others are OK.

try and get all four in. It's worth a shot, it probaply won't bind up the 4x4, but tell them it's a concern for you and your family and you want all 4 replaced

You can replace the fronts without them binding. The rears only have 4,000 miles on them. Otherwise you would have to rotate your tires every time you got gas. I had a bad alignment and my driver front was way more bald than the other 3 and I had no 4wd problems.

Yeah the goodyear places suck. My friend had all 4 of his aftermarket wheels on his Passat ruined when he got new tires. He actually got them to buy him new wheels.

Well, talked to the manager on the phone today. He wanted me to drop it off tomorrow. HA! I said how about you tell me when you have time to look at it and I'll bring it in then. I can't believe they would just assume I can drop it off. He told me he would have time tomorrow at 2:30. I can't wait! I'm good at this kinda stuff. I can stand there, totally calm, and just say stuff to them that proves them wrong with no problem. I love it. Normally it's the customer that goes off on the employees, but I have a tendency to have them start yelling at me. It's happened many times. A mechanic actually got fired for it once. :) I felt bad because he lost his job but he picked the wrong guy to BS with.

I'll let you know how it goes.
