Hey all,
I am a Ranger owner and have the 2.3 4 cyl. engine in my truck. Well now with the 33" tires the truck is a dog... even with 4:10 gears. I am seriously thinking of up grading to the 4.0 or possibly the 5.0.

I noticed the 4.0 manuals in the Exploders is a mazda transmission and also my truck has a manual transmission which is also Mazda bulit. I noticed that they even have the same fixes for the rubber grommets in the shifter rail.( installing metal plugs.) So if this is the same tranny is it possible to bolt the 4.0 up to this thing??? if anyone knows or has done this please help

thanks for your time

I believe they have different cases / bellhousings .

I think the tranny itself is the same, but the bellhousing is different. I don't know if the bellhousings are interchangeable or not.

Well that just stinks... oh well the thing has 180,000 on it anyway I should just find a newer one already attached to the 4.0 anyhow. Thanks for the info.
