View Full Version : Slotter roters? Crossdrilled? u pick Mike 09-06-2002, 12:19 AM Hey guys... i wanted to know what u like? crossdrilled or slotted roters? im thinking about getting one.. do you have one of the 2? how do you like them? let me know.. Mike YetiX 09-06-2002, 12:54 AM I've got the slotted rotors from ART and they work great. The biggest difference I've noticed is that they don't overheat the way the stock ones did when I'd drive down a mountain. X24 09-06-2002, 01:59 AM I think you should be fine with the stock rotors unless you go that fast that you need to stop that little bit quicker. Slotted and cross drilled rotors will eat away at your brake pads. james t 09-06-2002, 10:45 AM ive got the powerstops on mine- slotted and have dimples that LOOK like they are drilled, but are not all the way through. i voted c/drilled, mainly because they look cooler. i really dont think you will be able to tell the difference in stopping power. and as far as them eating pads, not really. if you get 40k out of pads on a stock rotor, you get 36k on slotted/drilled. pads are cheap and easy to replace, and they really dont wear out noticably faster on either... mattadams 10-28-2002, 03:33 PM you could do what I am doing, cross-drilled in the front, slotted in the back! heh heh. Got brembo front's, going with ART rears. Still waiting on my ART's, but here is the brembo's... http://mattadams.f150online.net/brembo1.jpg BigDave 10-28-2002, 04:12 PM You can always go to Autozone and get the Performance Friction pads there, they come with a lifetime warranty. In four years, I have gotten 8 sets of pads from them... I almost flipped when I originally saw that they had the lifetime warranty. Then your pad eating problem is solved. Dave Rx4phun 10-28-2002, 04:31 PM gezzums Matt I wish I had that kinda $$$ to do that to mine, nice choice mattadams 10-28-2002, 04:44 PM I'm not paying for them, heh heh. Actually, the funny thing is like the Brembo rotors/pads are maybe $100 more then a reasonable stock replacement set of pads/rotors, yet you get higher performance. Same thing with the ART's, about $100 more for the pair then you'd pay for a stock brand. Well worth it IMHO. Since I'm not a racer or anything I don't need super high performance like some of the brake kits out there I've seen that run like $3500-4000, just wanted better braking :). Rx4phun 10-28-2002, 05:02 PM oh and I thought those were the more expensive ones, I know my dad was looking at the disk conversion for the rear of a suburban and it was like 3Gs, way to much anyway that cool for you, tell us how you like them Gary mattadams 10-28-2002, 05:11 PM if they were the more expensive ones, you'd see a fancy caliper ont here instead of my brake-fluid covered caliper, LOL. 00sport 11-19-2002, 01:14 AM cross-drilled are much more likely to crack under high heat than the slotted. Think coming down a mountain with a boat in tow. Used to have cross-drilled on the ol' rice rocket. Cracked the first set and went to slotted. Never had any trouble with them. Also much less fade with slowing from 100+. Just my .02 |
