I was looking at a magazine with the mac products for explorers in it, and I was looking and I have a 98 5.0 but they have a air intake for a 96 5.0, will that one work?? Also they have exhaust for a 99-01 5.0, will that work on a 98??

Is the intake the same as pictured? The filter in the fenderwell? Any cutting that has to be made?
Thanks.
Lou.

Just one thing to keep in mind. I love the Mac intakes. They look amazing and sound great. The only problem is the large chrome tube from the MAF to the TB. The phrase is Cold air intduction but the Mac is kinda a Hot air induction. That big chrome tube gets very hot under normal driving conditions and that hot air will find its way into your engine. Just touch the tube, carefully, after driving and you will see what I am saying. That is why the K&N FIPK uses a plastic tube. But if you have to have the look, then get it. Just remember that the longer you drive the less power you will pick up from it, and the more you might lose. But as a show item you can't beat them

but do they make a K&N FIPK kit for a 98 explorer?? Where do you get one?? How much?

i just put my intake in... and it sounds so amazing... the roar is just breathtaking.. it almost sounds like having an exhaust... at low rpms.. it isnt too noticable. but after 3000 rpm it sounds like a vacuum... definately recommend it :D :D

dont really worry about the heat- the air travels through it fast enough its not gonna get heated but a few degrees. as far as heat is concerned, next time you go for a drive, get out and put your hand on top of the upper intake manifold. really hot, aint it? all your air goes through it.

well the sound alone makes it worth it.. hopefully if i have enough money to put some flow 40s on this winter, that will drown out the intake sound :D
