well I'm getting out of the lifted Explorer and want to build a street Explorer

my main question is if there is anyway to have a rear wheel drive 96 or 97 V8? Is there a fuse I can pull to make it just rear wheel drive? If worst comes to worst could I pull the driveshaft?

My very first post on this board was asking the same question. I have a 99 and thought there was a fuse i could pull but turns out i would have to pull the driveshaft and that wouldnt be worth it. Especially having to put it back in for winter.

just dont get an awd... get the 2wd

and by the way, ive heard that yes there is a fuse you can pull that will take off the awd, but it also disables all the power stuff on the interior (windows, door locks, lights... etc.)

I live in Michigan and have a cottage in Alpena on Lake Huron (great lake). I need 4x4 in the winter. We get over 100" of snow there, plus I have to tow my Jeep in the winter too
