This has been by far the best attack on the Slabs I have ever been on. You could not have asked for better weather. It was looking grim at first as it had been raining all night long, but by the time we got there the rain cleared up completely. Not to mention a great Camp fire (thanks Greg).

There was a few deep water crossings that did make it interesting. But with good spotting no one trouble. The waters had washed out a lot of the sand that you normally see out there so it was mostly water and Rocks. Lots and lots of Rocks to play on.

Of course some people get stuck out at the Slabs (alec) JK No Alec did ok being 2wd and all. But for some reason a full size ford and Chevy Z71 both get stuck close to or camp. So Red Bull Towing co. came to yank them out. The Ford was easy to snatch out, But the Z71 was a totally different story. Not only was this Truck stuck but stuck in water and sand, the 4x4 stopped working, the rear end was not locked, and one of the Front wheel was not turning at all. Useing a high lift and ammo box and The Red Bull we got it out, at the Expence on one strap.

When playing on Rocks you have to some Expect Damage.

Kris (Navajo)
No Damage :)

I didn't have any damage either :D Well, unless you count my little trailer reciever thing that was hanging down and asking for it anyways :D

Thanks for letting me and Travis come out there, we had a lot of fun..

I'm back too. The 3 of us (me, Polly, Splat) made it back to the island in one piece.

Some damage that I had before the run:
CB was DOA
$3 paint started to peel off the fenders. Next time, $6 paintjob!

My leafs are also getting bad again, need to fix those. As for my tranny, it just needs a fluid change.

Thanks to everyone for making this a great run. I had the longest drive at about 4-4.5 hours, but it was well worth it. As always I'm impressed with y'all and your rigs, and you're just great guys. Looking forward to the next event!

Pics will be up in the next day or so.

Kris - I can't believe you made it out with no carnage after going through that one part like a man possessed... Anyways, I forgot to tell you, but I called milemarker and there is a lifetime warranty so I'm gonna send them my bad hub and get them to send a new one to you and I'll just keep that one you gave me. Let me know if that's ok... Can't wait to see the rest of them pictures..

Jared, Unless you count scrapes on skid plates and spring hangers.

Thanks for checking in to the hub for me.

Bla Bla Bla...... I am still very upset about not making it. I am buying my own trailer now (so this doesnt happen again)

I will be planning a run in a couple weeks to either Gilmer or the Slabs. Is there and interest here?

I am going to be working onthe green Truck and wont be able to make it on a run till the Truck is ready. So it might take a little while.

Well then Kris, get to working on that Big Green Monster and let us know when it is ready, then we will either plan that trip to the Slabs again or to Gilmer. Either way you get to test the machine out and will be able to let the Big Green Monster play with it's friends (Trckmagik II).

Dammit! Gonna make it next time.........

Got the ARB in, good news. Now just got to wire up the air for it, install the fenders, leafs, and then the 33's finally.

My shift motor went out on me, would have happened out there, but I can always do the Manual shift mod. :)
rebuilding a replacement tonight, $15 junk yard, thanks Brett.

Anywho, looking forward to making the next one, looks like you guys had fun. How many times did Alec get stuck anyways? :)
No water damage? what was teh deepest crossing?

Micheal, Hope yougot some $$$$ for pulling those dude's out, especially since yougot a bent D shaft- was it from pulling them out?

Alec

Michael's bend driveshaft was from high-centering on an obstacle.

Don't think any of us had water damage. A few motors sputtered a bit but no biggie at all. The highest water I went through was above my bumper and I actually got some in my corner lights. One splash came over my hood

And for Rick and Char: I did hear supercharged water. All it did was squeel a bit until it all got worked through the system, no biggie at all.

I did get stuck more than a few times, but about half of it was due to me getting stuck on my own body :( I need to trim some more in the rear, basically my left rear couldn't turn sometimes cause it was jammed up to far. There was no way to forsee that as it's only at full flex. I did so much better than last year it's not even funny. Most of my stucks were on obstacles, not just on sand with me digging holes. The only bad sand stuck was because Michael stopped to soon, with me right in a large soft spot.

The return home was eventful as well. Michael had to drive his truck to Austin in front wheel drive only. We had to remove his (bent) rear driveshaft because of the vibration that made it difficult to drive over 25 MPH. It was even more squirrely trying to drive the truck in front wheel drive with a front locker.
Greg's Cherokee experienced a bit of death wobble on the way home as well, which thankfully was solved by tightening down the track bar.
My truck managed to get all the way home with the compressor clutch locking up on me. I parked it in front of the house, came back outside 2 hours later and the truck would not start. It seemed like the starter was bad, since it was trying to start, but was getting a slow draw. So I turned the key to 'on,' bridged the selinoid, and started the truck up for about 30 seconds, at which time the compressor was fuming white smoke, which was quickly followed by the snapping of my drive belt. The compressor had completely locked up on me. So, I bought a belt for a no a/c truck, and it fired right up.
Anyway, here are a couple of pics. (which should show up as soon as someone fixes the IMG code back to on!)

Gotta add the www. for those links to work.

Elder Elemental Evil

I've never had to before. It must have something to do with the img code being turned off, or something.

The links work for me, without the 'www.'

Carnage update:

my tranny is fine, just needs a fluid change. I'll get that done around Turkey Day.

Before my next run I'll do some more trimming so I don't get hung up on my body.

On this trip, my leaf springs developed some negative arch at the corners. I'll try to get new or rearched leafs before the next trip, but over 2 days after the trip this negative arch went away and the rear of the truck actually lifted up about an inch.

Again, I had a great time guys, and thanks for the help!

Well it sure does look like yall had a blast. Its a good thing i didn't go cause i was sick that weekend and the UTMB doctors were no help :p . Anyways I dont think I would have made it very far on my 27s. Early next semester I'm going to throw a lift on the little Jeep and get some 32s and that should hold me over for a while hopefully. The 3.27 gears wouldn't be fun with anything over 32s (hell they won't be fun with 32s)
