I don't want to get me any winter tires if i don't have too and they are in pretty good shape so... Anybody have experiance from them ON ROAD in packed snow and ice? Ross-N-Chicago 10-23-2002, 05:35 PM I've had mine for 40K miles in CHicago winters and ice and really can't complain. I have about 25-30% tread left and will leave them on this winter again. These shouldn't be confused with the Wilderness A/T that was recalled. We are OK. alfcapone 10-24-2002, 02:00 AM I've just found out that the HT is'nt allowed in winter time in Sweden, something about "not ment to be a winter tire" poop... kandtholman 10-24-2002, 08:22 AM Go with the Dayton Higlander A/T's. Great for off road, mud and snow! Also road noise is down because of tread design. Kurt Alec 10-24-2002, 08:33 AM BFGoodrich All-Terrain. I know they're more of an offroading tire than the others mentioned, but they wear extremely well and grip like crazy. They also look very good. They do make a little noise, but the traction far outweighs that. I had 18000 miles on mine when I sold them and they still had 85-90% tread left. Good luck! kkreit01 10-24-2002, 11:55 AM Michelin LTX M/S for SNOW! Awesome ride also. alfcapone 10-25-2002, 01:36 AM Well i got myself Pirellis..i got a silly price (550 US) for all four of them so i went for it. Yes brand new, from a dealer all leagal... Matte 10-25-2002, 07:15 AM When they did the tire-recall on wilderness AT I got Michelin LTX M/S on my X. I was lucky those are legal for winteruse in Sweden and work well in winterconditions. Alfcapone you did a good deal on the pirellis, but I dont think thr other guys on this site are impressed cause the US have half price normaly on tires compared to Sweden. alfcapone 10-25-2002, 09:00 AM Well do you think that you can get a 245/70-16 Pirelli Winter i the US for about 100US/wheel? not where i looked anyway, the regular price i Sweden on this tyre is about 280 US so maybe i think i'v got the US price anyway:D Have a nice weekend! im going to get 2WD i a couple of hours..then were gonna burn some rubber... 410Fortune 10-25-2002, 10:49 AM The new Four Wheeler has a good article about the comparison of A/T vs M/T in the snow. Alec: The KO is a good tire, a HUGE improvement in the water and snow over the old A/T but I have found they wear about twice as fast at the old A/T. The old A/T's weakness was water, the new KO is an improvement, I LOVE THE KO in the snow! However I only got 20K miles out of mine, not happy, not for $600 or whatever. My original A/T's lasted almost 40K miles, I have seen them go for 80K but I am hard on tires. Yes I keep them rotated and balanced like a feind. I am running some Courser A/T tires that kick but for 1/2 the price now, and I have some 33" M/T's that will be siped, those should run good in the snow.... |
