Has anyone had problems with the power steering? Somedays its very stiff, similiar to standard steering. Other days its normal. I have noticed I am losing fluid quite often.

I was thinking on replacing the pump.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You need to determine where the leak is first. If it is the pump, replace it. But make sure the leak isn't one of the lines or the rack itself before you replace the pump, and end up not fixing anything.

A good place to check for leaks is the rack itself. Squeeze on the rubber boots at the outer tie rods. I have seen pretty good leaks where these fill up with fluid. Also check the cap on the pump. Those thin rubber seals go bad and can let fluid get out under pressure. Do you have any signs of leakage anywhere? Especially look for accumulations of dirt grime where the fluid has mixed with dirt...maybe clean it all up real well and watch for those leaks. A new pump is a fairly easy install and not that much. Good luck,
