I know this might be a bit of a biased place to ask pro's and cons of each vehicle.
Wednesday I totalled my yellow 2001 Ford Ranger Edge. (I hit ice, and rolled it onto its top)
I need another vehicle-I will probably by something used this time, but im thinking of an SUV because sometimes I need to haul a few people around with me or whatever. I had a Jeep Cherokee for some time and miss the convenience. Anyway any pro's and con's of each vehicle would be great. Thanks in advance.
BTW: Please no Flames.

welp unbiased id say WHAT R YA DOIN GET THE FORD!!!:D
Just kiddin, i kinda like the ZR2's, are you talkin the truck or the blazer?
The only thing i dont like is the interior, big handle on the passenger side dash, and i think seats are uncomfortable. but i was only in one for a little while, i however do really like the stance of the ZR2's, probably wouldn't need to lift it.
On the other hand the EX Sport is plenty cool, i like the room in it, id rather have a 2door than my 4, and the sport that my friend has (01') is rather high for stock, it sits about a 1" higher than mine, and the interior is cool to , White faced guages are awesome!!! And did i mention that the power sould be better in the sport, provided you have a SOHC.
Overall just test drive either, if you liked your ranger youd probably like the sport.

Ok here's my opinion.
I hate the Blazer's interior, it's just plain ugly and hard to live with. On the outside, it is ok (ZR2). In stock form, i'ts obviously better offroad than the sport. I think the engine and tranny are better than what the sport has. The 4.3 has more torque and at a lower RPM I'm sure. It's more reliable too although it's slightly lower in the HP department than the SOHC. Plus, the tranny has to be better than the explorers (you can't get any worse). Also, the aftermarket is probably alot better for them, meaning there's more stuff and it's probably cheaper.
The interior of the sport is great, The axles (front and rear) are probably stronger than what the blazer has, and the transfercase probably is too (01+ sports have the old 1354). It's a much better looking machine than the ZR2 as well.
Edit: Also the blazer has much smaller fenderwells so you're gonna need to do alot of cutting to fit big tires without a monster lift.
I'd say it's a tough choice.

Depends on what year you look at. The 2003 Chevy Blazer is rated at 190 HP at 4400 RPM and 250 ft/lb at 2800 RPM. My '97 SOHC (and the '98s) is rated at 205 HP at 5000 RPM and 250 ft/lb at 3000 RPM. From'99-'01 the Sport's SOHC was rated at 210 HP and 240 ft/lb of torque. I'm not sure if the RPMs stayed the same or not though.

If I wasn't a Ford guy I'd look at a slightly used TrailBlazer/GMC Envoy. Those things can out tow the X and have good brakes. The motor (270hp) can be easily modified to 400hp. It's a great STREET SUV. I don't kow how it preforms off-road.
BUT since I'm a Ford guy, I LOVE my 01' X. If I had to do it all over again, I'd still choose my X over the TrailBlazer. It does everything I want it to do and then some. It's also the best bang for your buck. I shopped for a good few months and the X is what I finally chose. Plus look what it could become!

Yup, Jefe already has them installed. I'm exchanging my 4.56s and Detroit this weekend for some 4.88s and an ARB. :D

an ARB up front???? WHat? hhehehehe you must be talking rear ARB for you guys right?
OH BTW I eat Zr2's for breakfast. I think they are ugly. :)
Drive them both, then go buy the Explorer. I got $100 says after you drive both of them you end up with the Ford. I was at the dealership with a buddy not too long ago and they had a used Blazer in there, loaded 4x4, so I took it for a spin. YUK!!! Stick with the Ford! the Blazer wasnt that bad but it just didnt "feel" right to me, but then I am spoiled in my 88.....

The ZR2 is an awsome looking vehicle whether it be the S10 or Blazer. The Zr2 S10 is originally what I was looking for but in So Cal they are hard to come by. Both the Explorer and Zr2 have their own problems but the only real common problem I've heard with the ZR2's is P.O.S. oil return lines that always leak and need to be replaced quite often. Check out www.zr2.com for common problems and other stuff.
