It's gonna take me until January or February to finish this project, but I could use a few pointers on a few things...

I am pulling everything from the flywheel back - off. Including axles, transfer case, tranny - you name it - it's going. (As of now, everything is spoken for, sorry)

Going in - D44, 9", C5, transfer case is up in the air, 36x12.50 TSL's. Gearing is up in the air. This won't be a daily driver, but will be driven to the trails.

1st question - if I am running a chip, will the swap to a C5 affect the chip at all?

Also - if anyone has a lead on the D44 or 9" - empty (I will intall gears and lockers myself) please let me know. I am in S FL, so parts too far away may not make sense.

CoryL is going to wrist the arm for me, as well as a few other things that need to be done.

On the R/A topic - what is the advantage to going coils instead of leafs in the front? Is there really that much more flex with coils? If so, how difficult would it be to run coils in the rear?

Update:

Ok - I don't want to be all winter with my truck in the garage, so the tranny and transfer case will wait until I break them.

The D44 will be here in a few days and the old front end is coming off. As it stands now I will be doing the following:

D44 SAS, 4.56's and selectable locker
WildHorses 5" springs
Wristed R/A by CRL customs (CoryL)
Zimmerman mod rear leaf
re-arch rear leafs
Shocks - undecided
F150 discs up front
disc conversion in the rear
brake lines run along frame and R/A (no need to worry about over-stretching)

If I missed anything, please chime in - I should have some pics up this weekend.

I too am considering putting coils in the rear. Havent been able to find any good info on the various forums about this topic. Has no one done this? Seems that a rear coil setup would provide more articulation per $ spent. It would appear to be an identical setup to the D44 without the cast blocks on the axle.
Are you going full width or cutting down?
