Read a while back about some of you guys working on a way to re wire the 96 explorer t/c to lock up 4w auto into 4w high. any body ever figure this out ?

I don't think anyone has tried it yet. Theoretically it could work, but you need to control the amount of current applied to the transfer case clutch. If you just apply 12V, my opinion is that you risk burning out the coil which controls the t-case clutch engagement. Here are a couple of threads with more information:

I have a 97 that already has 4wd High, so I'm not going to try it;)
