my bracket on the arm rest is broken.
my friend has a 94 explorer that he is willing swap the brackets with me...
is there a way i can remove the soft part of the arm rest from the bracket or is it all just one peice?
if so how do you seperate the two peices?

thanks

The bracket can be removed, with great difficulty. The pin holding it on must be cut, or a special tool is needed to pop the armrest section apart...There is alots of threads on this somewhere....

BTW, New metal replacement brackets from Ford are $50.00:)

Mine was all buggered up when i bought it. I took it off (you need a torx bit) and driiled a hole in a thick piece of metal and jammed it in where the old broken part was. then i tightened the sucker real tight! Cant move it back now, but there isn`t room for anyone to sit there anyway on account of the shifters and shat.

It`s easy to remove. the bolt is on the inside.

Is that the arm rest for a bench seat?I don't see how that would solve the regular arm rest problem:confused:

Yeah the 60/40 split bench or whatever. Also the latch was broken, so I cut two of the springs so the darn thing would stay closed.
