hey guys got a quick query for ya
on my 92 when i accelerate sometimes , i mostly notice it when i am going uphill on the road i notice a soft rattle that seems to be coming from the engine. If i had to guess i'd say its right behidn the firewall....
its sorta perportional to the speed at which i'm going up hill

rather weird to me

any suggestions?

thanks

sounds like pinging man. try some higher octane gas or do a search for "sea foam" or "power foam"

your vehicle is same as mine, i would also recommend getting the injectors professionally clean, chaning the fuel filter and looking at some new plugs/wires if it's been a while since they've been changed. i use jacobs wires and motorcraft double platinum plugs and they seem to work well for me.

Before spending the money on getting your injectors cleaned, I would buy a can of electronic cleaner (one that leaves no residue) and clean your MAF sensor. After cleaning it, remember to disconnect your battery for at least 5-10 minutes to reset the computer. Reconnect it and let the engine idle for another 5 minutes then take it for a drive. I did this to mine and it has been ping free for over 6 months running on regular un-leaded. Total cost was under $15.00 for cleaner and torx driver. There is a good write up on this procedure in the "List of Useful Threads" forum.

Elite, pick up some seafoam and run it through there. You can find it at NAPA or carquest.

seafoam seems to be a big thing around here, but i've never heard of it...
whats it do?

It cleans the built up gunk and carbon in your intake and cylinders. It has been shown that carbon build up leads to detonation.

well i ran powerfoam. then recently as i was doing the intake manifold gaskets and had the lower intake out i realized that there is a black layer of crap in the intake. even bath after bath in degreased and various solvents wouldn't take it all off. including carbuerator cleaner. so i really can't imagine that sea foam or power foam really does much. but give it a shot it's only a couple of bucks.
