Check-out www.car-parts.com (http://www.car-parts.com ) and you can compare prices.
a friend of mine is a doing a d44 swap in his 97 ranger right now and he got an axle housing with carrier for 90 bucks from a friend then he got radius arms, and then for 250 he got radius arms and shafs from an EB and then got knuckles and disk brakes from an old f100.
you probably wouldnt be interested but i found one in pa with disks for 500... here's the link

The early bird gets the worm.....
We have pulled two disc braked D44's from 70's F-250's for $250 or less. One from the paper (frequently check the parting out, I'm addicted) and one from a pick and pull. The problem with both is they get scavenged up quickly.
Of course then it took a ton of $$$$ to build the D44 to fit under a BII. 4.56, 6" cut out of the passenger side tube, ARB, new ball joints, the works. So the $250 D44 is just the starting point. I cant remember if the F-250 D44's are high pinion or not.....The last one we yanked we got everyhting, radius arms, coil buckets, shock mounts, etc.....I think Brett has about $2000 in that axle to date an it has not been installed in anything yet.....
Actually he considered selling the D44, a 8.8 with 4.56 and an ARB all together in the classifieds.....

Wow, those sound like the prices out here in Albuquerque! When I need axles or other larger parts I either go to colorado or buy them over the boards and have them shipped here. Your in Cali, make a road trip to a pick n pull and find them for way cheaper.

Sweet, sounds like a good plan matt. You will love the 14 bolt, just cut off the lip on the bottom. I have a 14 bolt on my jeep.

Matt, unless you plan to install a crane on your ranger to lift the tires on and off, I'd stay away from the Hummer rims. They are extreemly heavy (over 80lbs each).
