I'm assuming they remedied some of the main issues by a certain model year. My wife drives an 00 EB SOHC so I was wondering about this and also same question for the chain tensioners and guides. Did they also fix this issue by a particular model year?

I don't know that manifold leaks will ever be resolved? I hear of people with 2002 f-150's that still get manifold leaks.

All SOHC Explorers built through April 07, 2000 ('97-'00 4-doors & '97-'01 Sports & Sport Tracs) are subject to ONP 00M12 for the leaking o-rings and noisy tensioners.

Are there any problems for the 97 Mountaineer AWD ?

yes, the 97 mounty should leak. also, the 96-early 97's with the stock "header" leak the worst.

resolving the issue is easy on the 5.0. if it hasnt leaked long enough to burn a notch out of the header flange, go get copper gaskets for a 5.0 mustang and stage 8 locking bolts. it will never leak again.
