Thanks, the X is gonna hit 100K real soon, I wanna change the ATF and try and firm up the shifts. They are SOOOO mushy I can't stand it. I am gonna try the B&M shift plus thing, I've heard some good things about it here. I installed a B&M shift kit in my 86 Bronco many years ago (AOD tranny), the tranny had like 110K on it, I told the guy at Summit how many miles and he said no problem. Anyway I installed the kit and the first 2 sfifts were nice and hard and then it was worse (softer) than before. I called B&M directly and they said they don't recomend shift kits for tranny's with over 50K on them, boy was I pissed at Summit, he said it would be OK.

If I could only get the tranny in the X to shift like the tranny in my Powerstroke...

I guess it could be slipping a bit, but I don't think so. The problem is that today people want quiet, smooth cars/trucks, so they design the Auto trans to be so smooth so you can't feel it shift. This causes excesive time between shifts, which causes heat and wears clutch material out faster, beleive me I know this, I did A LOT of research on Auto tranny's when the E4OD went out in my pickup. Also I hate to say it, but Ford designs the Explorer mainly as grocery getters for soccer Mom's. There is no real tough SUV today, most are cars with AWD or 4wd. I think I had the last "real" Sport Utility, the Fullsize Bronco!! Don't get me wrong, I love our X, but I find that I rarely call it a truck, I usually find myself calling it a car, which it really is, an AWD car.

Sorry, but you know what I mean right??

that's why I love this website, it shows real people showing the capabilities of the X, but the sad truth it that probably 90% of X's never see dirt roads. The auto manufactuers try and please the soccer moms and the richies by making all these SUV's luxury like, and it makes me sick. My dream X from the factory would be a XL plain Jane 4 door with a 5.0L and a part time transfer case, than I would get X-treme with it!! But it's all about luxury, can you even get a brand new X with a 5-speed in a four door??

I was messing around the other day on the Ford website where you can build your own vehicle, I built a F-350 similar to mine, a work truck, nothing fancy except XLT and it was like $36,000!! What a joke, I'll NEVER buy a new car/truck.
