just to let some of you guys know i finally got our factory dual media radio from a 98-up into our 97 explorer.

these are the wires on the harness from a 98+ explorer from the junkyard:

black and black green----ground
light blue/red---dimmer
light green/purple---constant 12+v
yellow/black---switched 12+v

light blue/white---left door speaker
orange/light green---left door speaker

dark green/orange---right door speaker
white/light green---right door speaker

tan/yellow---left rear speaker
gray/light blue---left rear speaker

brown/pink---right rear speaker
orange/red---right rear speaker

i used a wire harness kit from wal-mart.

and matched everything up like normal, but had to wire the amp turn-on wire to a ignition source.

so far everything seems to be working it seems with the amp and compared to the real factory radio it is much louder now.

just incase somebody wanted to know.

What is the Dual Media, and why would I want it?

Yeah, the 98 is louder b/c the amp is built right into the HU

dual media is cd and cassette plus the radio all in one.
