does anyone know about these boxes' quality or sound. i've heard that i should stay away from bandpass boxes but i like the look of it alot...

I do like the looks of that box! I have never heard of the company and am a little worried about a completely glass box staying sealed (hard to see any sealant at the edges), but I may be completely off on that. You may have heard to stay away from bandpasses because they are a little harder to tune than a sealed box. A sealed box (usually) will hit lower and harder than a bandpass, while a bandpass will be more accurate. Going back to the tuning, a pre-assembled bandpass will need to compliment the subs placed in it, which may a difficult task to accomplish.

Looks pretty cool, but I wouldn't buy it because it's a bandpass. I just don't like the sound of bandpass boxes. It looks well made, and the glass is pretty thick, so there shouldn't be any leaking.

hey Morrisey, i thought that it was the other way around...the bandpass will be louder and teh sealed will be more accurate..

GaSouthern1 i think you're right...

is it possible to re-tune a bandpass box, or even convert it so there isn't a particular frequency sweet spot like a regular ported enclosure?

dont do it man, the plexi is only 3/8 inch thick. That box will flex like crazy, and it is 200 dollars...what a rip. You could build a FAR STRONGER custom box in your X and have it look cooler too. That is just my .02

if i'm not mistaken a plexiglass box will sound better than the same style made out of partical board.

i heard that a few years ago so things might have changed. but a plexi glass custom box in a ex with maybe some neons for effect. that would be pretty cool.

actually Willie, the acoustical properties of plexiglass are horrible. Plexiglass tends to flex much more than particle board. The strongest enclosure you could make is a concrete box and I have seen this several times, its pretty cool but has sort of a "dead" or "lost" sound to it, its hard to explain. The next strongest material would be a marine grade particle board, I forget the name of it but if you really want to know what it is I can track down the name for you. MDF or HDF is the next strongest followed by fiberglass then plexiglass then plywood. I wouldnt purchase nor make a box completely out of plexi, although its ok to use a single piece of plexi for a view window or something, I would go less than 3/4" thick though...and ideally I would make my box out of 1" MDF with lots and lots of bracing, sound dampening, and sealant.
