you know what im talkin about, zip zaps, microsizers, bit char-g, and others. ive been sellin a few zip zaps on ebay and i figure i might as well keep one for myself and play with it. wow these things are fun!! been moddin the pcb, the controller, and just ordered a 30,000rpm motor today. they are so addictive, you can do so much to them for so little money, lots of fun. anyone else play with em?

i think i saw one of these at the rc shop last time i was there.... i saw one completely dust the top speed on my tmaxx.... given they are so tiny, i wouldn't trust their handling at those speeds, but it was wicked cool.....

not yet, I wanted to get one of those zip zap ones to drive my dog nutz with lol. But couldn't find anybody with them, they we're all sold out/

oh well, I have fun driving her nutz with my full size RC10-T2 thats highly modded, had it for like 7yrs now, scince 8th grade. F'n fast as hell when set up to go on the street, and then a friend gave me a set of Clodbuster tires a long time ago and I modded them to fit the axles on the rear. It's crazy off-road with those tires on and a 12 turn motor, goes like 50mph off road with the gearing and huge tires:eek: Then I have a 10 turn motor to f' around the street with.

ah...good ole r'cs.... i picked up a really tiny one at Kragen's the other day for under $20... it isn't fast, but is so small that you can play with it on your kitchen table....

Ya I've been looking for them, but they are hot this year!

My little cuz has one and I was screwing around with it - it's fun as all heck and yes, I'd love to terrorize my dog with it!! :)

So which one is better? Zip Zap or Microsizers?

no i got an el cheapo one from kragen.. its an auto parts store... it is actually smaller than the tamiya ones.....

the tamiya ones are the ones i saw at the hobby shop thogh... it was fast....

jimbo74
12-20-2002, 03:58 AM
maybe the ones i am thinking of arent tamiya... they may be kyosho.... it was one of the big brand names

I think I have 4 of them now.. each one from a different place.. (different manufactures)...

The motors are interchangable and so are the gears on most of my cars.. I've taken 2 of them to make 1 good fast controllable car...

I think there are about 10 of them here at work total (only 25 employees)

Some of the cars work well...

We found that teh 27mhz cars cannot run when the 54mhz cars are running.. (the 54 will interfere with teh 27.. but not the other way around)..

If the car steers well, they are fun.. if the steering is goofed (I have 1 like that) they are no fun...

They only have Kragen in CA and NV. They are either called Schuck's in the Northwest, or Checker further east. Looks like the nearest Checker to you would be somewhere in Minnesota. :D

ive heard that kiosks in malls, and flea markets, and places like walgreens have the other brands. also i have seen alot of the other brands available on ebay. usually pretty cheap, often with around a 15 dollar by it now option. i want to pick up a bit char g that is 35mhz and swap the boards over to my zip zap. these things are so much fun, i just bought a few more today to give to my brothers for christmas. next im gonna be doin a dual battery mod to mine w/3.0 motor.

I've got two of the Tyco Canned Heat cars. A Honda S2000 and a Dodge Durango. The Durango can handle the carpet in my house very well. The Honda just gets stuck, but it flies in the kitchen. :)

Anyways I attached one of those micro spy cameras to the chassis of the Durango and drove around. Here is an 11meg .mpeg file that you can download. (I'll only leave it on my server for a little while) Plus a few pics of what the setup looks like. Very fun indeed!

The video goes from the bathroom to the living room, then under some furniture and then into the kitchen and back to the bathroom. (right click and save as)

Cool movie. Now you need to get some PIAA's that fit and a better suspension for the carpet sections LOL :D :D

SaleenEXP

that was cool, it got some air hitting the carpets lol.

dogfriend - min pins are the best to mess with for r/c cars, except I had a little one messing with her outside, she grabbed it and ran onto our dock and dropped it into the intracoastal. She goes nucking futz around them, starts to run around like a maniac for like no reason and goes into lunatic mode.....

Nobody can tell me these dogs aren't smart. :D :D

I haven't had an actual rc car to try with our dog, but I have tried other cheesy robot cats (with cord attached) and those battery operated balls that move at random. She usually tries to ignore them or just avoid them by getting out of the way.

The one item that she really got tweaked by was when my GF bought me some Tazmanian Devil slippers. When I put them on, she took one look at the face and then chomped down on the nose and started growling. She sort of got used to them, but can still be provoked to bite them if I tease her.

I've got a sweet RC10-T2 truck that I got for my b-day in 8th grade 6-7yrs ago, f'n fast as hell. I used to run it inside cause our living room and 1st floor is massive with only my bedroom on the 1st floor, so that floor is about 4000sqft of just openess/space. I say "used to" cause I had it in here making her go nutz and it glitched and got stuck at full throttle even though I had the controller knob set to keep it at a low speed and slammed the wall at like 60mph. the bottom of the walls near the sliding glass doors have Coral on the bottom section and it destroyed the front end of the truck. Luckily it hit that part cause the glass doors we're open and it would have either gone into our pool or the intracoastal which would have sucked big time.

we have a bunch of those like Christmas things, like this dog with a Santa Hat, if you press the nose it starts moving, singing and barking, she goes ape sh!t over it and pinned it down and started attacking it, then she tried to hump it lol. my dogs possesed. it's so friggen funny, she goes in these lunatic/psycho modes and starts running around like a possesed demon, and she runs so fast that she slams into everything:confused: She's still only a year and a half old, and mad protective of my mom.

edit- ha, it's 1:30am and she's hitting me right now and going nutz cause she wants to play, keeps throwing her toy at me, do these dogs ever run out of energy LOL,

Try the "test" button on the smoke alarm (or set off the smoke alarm on purpose) and see what your dog does.:D

Our dog goes ballistic for 5 -10 minutes any time the smoke alarm goes off or even if one goes off on TV. Good feature if our house ever catches on fire. No way will we be able to sleep through that.

They slow down a little bit after 5-6 yrs, then some more at 8 or 9 yrs old. Our dog is actually pretty mellow most of the time now.

The camera weighs next to nothing. But I can't put that heavy 9V battery anywhere on that truck and not have it bucking on the carpet.

I still need to have my g/f drive the S2000 in the garage so I can have a chase scene going. I don't think it will be anything like Ronin, but they had a bigger budget. :)

I used to work for RadioShack here in St.Louis. Are you working you butt off right now making that commission? When I worked there I was only part time and going to school. So I didn't really make enough to get the commission. So I would always ring out my bigger sales under the one full-timer that was there so he would get the commision for the sale and I just kept track and he would pay me cash for half of what I sold under his number. That way I would get paid more that the hourly and he would get more awards. :)

ya i work there too, thats how i got mine, last week, we would get a case of em a day shipped to us, we'd sell out of them after havin them in for an hour, but id get mine before then ;). christmas time is the only time of year that i make commission.

So do these zip zaps turn? or do they just go straight... i'm confused

Doug
12-25-2002, 09:59 AM
zip zaps turn and go fowards and backwards. you can upgrade the motors, the gears and even the suspension. There are also new bodies you can buy. There is one car at shadiorack that i wanted to play with. it was twice the size of a zipzap but it had digital proportional control. It was a dodge viper. I bet that thing would be pretty cool.

Hey Raceit what brand is that? and how much did it cost? I am planning on buying some so i can play while im at the office.

Raceit
12-26-2002, 11:06 AM
It's not a ZipZap brand. It's called a Cannonball R/C Car. I found it at a Walgreen's pharmacy store belive it or not. 15 bucks. It's pretty fun. The range sucks on it though. I will probably take it back. I mean it's nice and quite for an office compared to my Tyco Canned Heat cars, but just not very fast or anything.

However it does only take about 45 seconds to charge up and lasts about 5 minutes.

Do you guys know how to tell what brand is what?
or
What brands have interchangable parts with other brands?

I have 3 different micro R/C cars..

2 from checker auto parts (one is made by apc)
1 from walgreens...

my two from checker auto parts are different brands.. and I can't tell which one of mine can actually use zip zap parts... I already know the axles are not interchangeable between my different cars.. so far only the drive and body is.

Which one would you recomend? How much faster is the microsizer from the zip zap? I am going to be buying some but i noticed that the microsizer is more money than the zip zap. Is it worth the extra cost?

Is it worth the extra cost? I would get a zip zap just because you are not used to them. If you wont you can get a microsizor thats just my opinion.Wen you get better driving on a zip zap then I'd get a microsizor.

I got the red and white one - from Walgreens / Osco for $10 each. The red one was broken when I got it and the wite one's top wouldn't stay on. I eventually got them to work right (returned them a few times), but these are definately low-class/quality 'wanna-be' micro R/Cs. Put out the money for the real thing!
