OK guys, I'm in the process of replacing my rotors right now. I have the caliper off, and I'm ready to remove the rotor itself. The problem is, the metal guard thing that protects half of the rotor is keeping me from being able to pound on that side with a hammer. Is there any way to remove this?

Also, have any tips on how to get this thing off?

Yeah I had that problem too. I had to pry on the rotor with a screwdriver and beat on it with a hammer. Get forceful if you need to, the old rotor is worthless anyway.

Sorry for the impatience....

I got both off successfully. I wasn't using a big enough hammer or enough force. I didn't realize how tough 5 years of rust can be.
