View Full Version : Has anyone heard what the borla sounds like on the XP8?? WannaXP8 01-05-2003, 06:47 PM I have a chance to get the factory borla off a xp8, has anyone heard it?? does it sound good..or is it quite?? SaleenEXP 01-05-2003, 07:06 PM I have heard it.....it was a little on the quiet side for me but had a nice little rumble.....Throatier and more aggressive then Gibson or Dynomax for example but not as aggressive or loud as Flowmaster or Magnaflow. How much can you get it for?? Did you check my other post on your other thread? Look into CGS exhaust also, they are very throaty and add a mean rumble especially on a V8, about as loud as Flowmaster and Magnaflows but has a unique tone. james t 01-05-2003, 07:11 PM i have heard a Borla catback on a 5.0 truck with headers, which would be the same thing. sounded great, but a little quiet for my tastes... not much louder than stock. jimbo74 01-05-2003, 07:18 PM i heard a dual borla on a 93 5.0 stang.... that thing was wicked loud and sounded great! james t 01-05-2003, 07:20 PM if it was loud at all, it was because it had no cats... Borla's are usually very quiet... yet throaty. SaleenEXP 01-05-2003, 07:25 PM Originally posted by jimabena74 i heard a dual borla on a 93 5.0 stang.... that thing was wicked loud and sounded great! Most of the Stangs you hear that are loud running Borlas use their Xr-1 mufflers and an offroad mid pipe (X and H). The regular Borla mufflers like on the XP8 are pretty quiet as are regular Borlas on a Stang. If you could get the Xr-1's with a custom x-pipe, that would sound pretty good on a 5.0 Explorer. FrankRizzo 01-05-2003, 09:16 PM That's what I have on my ride. It's pretty quiet. It's loudest in the 1600 to 2250 rpm range, so if you blip the throttle in a parking structure it makes people look. On the open road, you do not have to raise your voice inside the vehicle to carry on a conversation. It's a very conservative exhaust, because Ford would not allow anything too radical. I honestly noticed no performance gain from the exhaust, only the sound. A stock Mustang GT is louder than the XP8 Borla setup WannaXP8 01-05-2003, 09:29 PM well dammit, its on ebay...heres the link if you wanna bid.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1876252364&ssPageName=ADME:X:BN:US:2 FrankRizzo 01-05-2003, 09:36 PM Oh yeah....I told youse guys B4, but I cut the "gay" borla tip off..... http://ebay2.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_6ba0b0ae7a87875dd0da2d7f639f5c2a/i-2.JPG Put on a piece of 2-1/2 inch stainless in the factory position: http://home.pacbell.net/kgara/reara.jpg Another thing: The whole Borla exhaust is 2-1/4....just like the stock set-up.....I paid $175 on close out. Borla used to list it on thier website for $800. If it goes over$200 - you could probably do better by custom fabing your own......... 2000_x 01-05-2003, 10:24 PM I have Borla's on my 97 stang it they are just a tad loud than stock when idle but we you push it the slightest, you can really hear them. Flowmasters would be loader all around even at idle. I perfer the Borla's loud when you want them to be. Best purchase on my stang I could of made. They are more expensive but well worth it. |
