Well, I went to my local Hobby shop and spoke to the guy for awhile. Finally he said for the highest speed and the mose torque to go electric. He recomended the Traxxas E-Maxx. I think the price he said was 329.99 and then I have to buy batteries and a charger. What do you guys know about this truck. It is electric twin motor, twin battery and 4x4.

I have a Sedan now, but if I ever get a truck, it'd be between the T-Maxx or the TeamAssociated Monster GT (just because my Sedan is TA).

Get the Nitro and once you learn the in's and out's of the engine, you'll be so so so glad you did.

I have an electric and a nitro - the electric only has like a 10 minute (if I'm lucky) run time, have to wait for the batteries to charge, and really isn't all that fast. After I figured out all the ins and outs of my engine, I have to say that I absolutely love my nitro compared to my electric. About a15 minute run time, and all I need to do is add more fuel (while it's still running!) to keep it going, it's very very fast, tons of upgrades for them and the popularity of Nitro is completely surpassing the electic world as there's new nitros and nitro RTRs coming out all the time.

$5 says if you go to another hobby shop, you'll get a reccomendation to get a nitro, or a totally different truck.

Check out the bulletin boards on this site - http://www.radiocontrolzone.com

I'm there all the time and learn my butt off!

Good luck!

Ry.

Thanks, rvitek! I will see what information is arround there.

Do you know how I could cut the two bodies in half and glue them together. I found a Sport trac (my front end) and an older style Explorer Sport (close enough to my rearend). I want to cut them in half and make my own 01 sport. :)

T or E-maxx?
I myself is a big fan of Nitro RCs. I have a T-maxx and I love it. It actually depends on what you want. If you want something like a plug-n-play type, then you should go with the E-maxx. The only thing I don't really like about the electric powered cars/trucks is that you always need to carry an extra (or two) battery packs if you want to play a little longer. Plus, the battery packs aren't cheap either. As for the gas-powered ones, all you have to do is just keep filling up the tank and you could keep going for hours(eventhough I've only done it for an hour and a half at the longest at a single start). Plus, I like the realism of a glow plug engine - sound and smoke.
I guess the only two reason I would go for the E-maxx is when it's cleaning time for T, I always have a hard time cleaning all that exhaust residue mixed with dirt, and second, when the engine doesn't want to start...but with 10 yrs experience on the engines, I think I'm pretty good on getting them to start now.
Hope this helpd.

What should I expect to pay to get a Tmaxx and everything I need to get started. I have nothing now. I also know I was E-Z starting.

I'd say $100 on top of the cost of the truck... Thats for a Gallon of fuel, fuelbottle, extra glowplugs, batteries (both AA and the 7.2 for the e-z start), slow wall charger (for the 7.2 battery), tire glue... I'd also reccomend a hobby battery with a glowplug warmer for the initial starting of the truck when you're out to play... After that the crappy blue wire is usually enough juice to warm the plug after the engine is warmed up...

If you have any other questions just let me know... I'm sure I've missed something in there but I can't think of what...

Or, you can get one of those nitro start up set like the one that hpi offers.
Tower lists the tmaxx with the start up combo for $443

Dude go with the Nitro!!! I raced electric for some time, but then when I bought my first nitro car I never looked back! If you want something for light off road bashing and nice street manners look at the HPI RS4 SuperNitroRalley, it has become my favorite car for Bashing on! My next r/c will be the new MAXX 2.5, that thing is sick!
