ok.. i just did a BL. got done and couldn't start the truck.. apparently while disconnecting the tranny shift cable from a clip i managed to slip the tranny out of "park". see http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67931 for more details.
seth pointed me the right direction.. when i get home i can start it after moving the column shifter around a bit. now i can't other gears! i managed to find a forward gear, but i need to go backwards out of the garage!
is there a way to realign the shifter or something so i can drive again? when i move the shifter, it feels empty except at the most extreme ends. like i just got way out of sync or something. any ideas?
thanks!

edit: dave.. saw your response in other thread..
it seems like the cable has plenty of play in it. not like a ton, but not much different than before. i'll go check on that too though.

Jason, I had this happen with a loose shifter assembly after my rebuild. Dunno how they fixed it, but I know that I couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong on my own. The tranny shop fixed it in about 20 minutes though; so worst case is probably $60 at a shop.

yeah it looks like i would be able to push the truck out and drive through the yard and to a shop. i can manage to get it to drives and aparently neutral... but that's it!
thanks alec.. that may be my route if nothing else works. anyone else got ideas?

in case anyone wondered.. the plastic housing on the shifter cable got cracked. when i uncliped it from the clip on the frame, i apparently didn't unclip it all the way and it got cracked when i jacked the body up. DOH! oh well.. its taped up and working fine now.. at least for a while!
