Where is the clutch switch on a 91-94 Ex? Is it under the dash or in the engine compartment? I am doing a clutch bypass and want to locate the switch or the motor side of the wires.

View Full Version : Help me locate the clutch switch AlaskanJack 01-25-2003, 08:39 PM Where is the clutch switch on a 91-94 Ex? Is it under the dash or in the engine compartment? I am doing a clutch bypass and want to locate the switch or the motor side of the wires. AlaskanJack 01-25-2003, 11:51 PM Something must be wrong with me. I found the wires coming off the hydrolic push cylinder in the floor board. I was told to look for an optional color of white/pink instead of the red/blue starter wire. Well no white/pink wire and the red/blue wire must still be on the switch side. I need the motor side. Where is this stinking wire?????? Muskrat 01-26-2003, 12:07 AM are you talking about the t-case clutch? 1st gens don't have TOD, but I could be reading the post wrong AlaskanJack 01-26-2003, 12:16 AM No I have a 5 spd tranny and I am trying to bypass the clutch wiring for my remote start. dogfriend 01-26-2003, 12:25 AM Maybe this will help: http://www3.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/0b/ab/e4/0900823d800babe4.jsp and http://www3.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/0b/ac/02/0900823d800bac02.jsp It appears to be part of master cylinder assy. Also, check out schematic no 7 on this page http://www3.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/0b/a9/c7/0900823d800ba9c7.jsp The schematic says it is a pink wire supplied by ign switch and goes to starter relay. Maybe you can bypass it at the starter relay on the fender. Edit: If you think about it, the easiest way is to bypass the clutch switch altogether by wiring directly to the starter relay. AlaskanJack 01-26-2003, 01:39 AM Gosh darn wiring schematics!! I already had the ones from autozone prinbted out. I was told by the remote start company that the wires I mentioned before were the only wires possible. AH HAH!! Well I started using my multimeter and low and behold it was a solid pink wire. AUUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!!!! I get so mad at wiring being different than schematics show. I have 3 seperate wiring schematics I have printed for my 93 and my wifes 94 and so far in installing both our remote starts and my keyless entry I have found a bunch of wires that were not even close to what they were supposed to be. I'm done dogfriend 01-26-2003, 01:46 AM Did you follow what I was saying about the starter relay? Since the clutch switch just provides the (low amp) voltage to the control side of the starter relay, you should be able to bypass the clutch interlock by supplying a (low amp) voltage to the same terminal on the starter relay. AlaskanJack 01-26-2003, 02:01 AM No I found the wire coming off the clutch switch that went to the starter relay. It turned out to be a solid pink wire coming off the clutch hydraulic push cylinder. Everything working just fine. dogfriend 01-26-2003, 02:08 AM Cool. Those remote starters are popular where my GF comes from (near Buffalo, NY) but we don't really need them here in CA :) |
