I have a 94 XLT with 117k. When the gas tank is below about 1/4, I have a relatively strong smell of gas from the engine compartment. Is there some kind of vapor recovery filter in the engine comparment that may be spent? Could it be a leaky fuel pressure regulator? I never had this problem with my 91 STX w/150k.

I get this problem every now and again too with my '94 XLT, any suggestions as to the cause would be great.
