Ok, I think I am leaning to a Traxxis R2R. Either an E-maxx or T-maxx. 4x4. I don't know what is better Gas or Electric? What do you think?

depends...for ease of use, Electric. For more fun, Noise, Smell,...gas...but then you have to bring a starter box everywhere unless you have a pull start, and bring gas.

Does one have more power over the other?

Out of the box, electric has more torque, but nitro is faster...

hmmm..got me there...I personally like building it...that way when things break(believe me too, they will break) you know exactly how everything went together. My RC10GT with the NovaRossi motor went 48mph.

go nitro, the new Maxx 2.5 is a good motor and when that goes out you can put a big block in it. Go over to www.maxxtraxx.com and look at some of the maxx's there...totally bad a$$. I have an RC10GT now and i love it, although i will definately get a monster truck in the next 6 months or so.

SSikora- what size motor do you have...that Rossi's are mucho $$ but 48mph..GOOD LORD...mine will only do about 39 with my new OPS.

ha, me too, the only part i havent opened up is the tranny, but everything else has been apart.... i know what the tranny looks like isdie from diagrams and such..... but never needed to replace anything in it yet..... you know that the tmaxx differential taught me alot about axles and things? the tmaxx uses a real ring and pinion gearset, i have a spool in the rear of my truck.....

Nitro is good if you know what you are doing.... and can use it outside

electric is good if you have no clue what you are doing, all you have to do is charge batteries and play.....

i havent touched rc vehicles in about 10 years, but i always had electrics, and so did everyone who we raced with at the track on weekends. rarely there would be a gas guy, which was cool to check out, but no one really messed with it.

i used to have a traxxas blue eagle ls 2 with about a million dollars worth of mods ;) and an rc10 (car.) now theyre all gone, but im sure that ill get back into that crap soon enough.

I burn RC10GT's with my RC10T2....but only when the 10 turn motor is in;) , I don't remember what gearing I put in there like 4yrs ago but with that motor I have like no traction. If I give it full power from a stop, it'll shred the tires until it finnaly hooks up, I have these tires that resemble the Pirelli P-zeros but they say goodyear on them:confused: Looks bad ass with black rims and the body fades from black to purple.

Gas is sweet, but can be very annoying and frustrating when they decide to become "finnicky" which will happen, but their awsome. I remember a few years ago, one of the hobby shop owners here had a Kyosho Inferno that was tricked out, that thing hauled big time, very fast, Infernos were 1/8 scale so they were pretty big.

Mines setup for the street, but I modified a set of Clodbuster rims and tires to fit my rear axles, with those on it kicks ass offroad.

I'd love a nitro Tmaxx though.

Geez...i have sorta been out of that scene for a while...but its the normal size for that scale(.12 or .15?). It is a 1 hp motor...but I have the tunable pipe, and an aftermarket head....she cruises. It gets a little hard to control when it gets that fast, and I had to ziptie steel to the front end to keep it from flipping on takeoff.

ok i got the old .15 engine T-maxx and my buddy has the new 2.5 engine T-maxx. mine goes about 35mph and his goes 40+ plus with the new engine you dont really have to tune it you just do the breakin process and it is done. and by the way for people saying they dont have torque the new maxx will pop wheelies like nothing. it is a bad muthu. i highly suggest you get it if that is what you are thinking of getting. you will not be disappointed. and also with the new maxx it comes with standard option to lower. then just drop on less aggressive tread tires and that thing will not flip like the older higher center of gravity t-maxx will. also dont get the manual pull start with it get the electric easy start. you will not regret it and if the engine decides to be a little finicky it will be the difference between just putting it away after getting mad and just trying a little longer and getting it running. ez-start only costs another $40 too which for the money is not bad at all. good luck.

if you do get the easy start make sure that when you get it to try to get the version 2 starter. the only diff is that the version 2 has a different portable starter that is a black case that snaps over a battery versus the old one which comes stock with just a little thing with two bigass adjustable zipties and a plug in for the battery. the reason forthis is tat the newer starter with better electronics puts more juice to the start motor to be able to start it quicker.

If you're goin' for a monster, like the Maxx, you absolutely positively have to go gas. For the weight you need the power. And if you are a wrench monkey, or even a wannabe, there's a lot more you can learn/do to squeeze more horse out of it.

Now, if you want a wider opinion, I wouldn't go the monster route. Yeah, they look all bad and sky high, but you go right back to the philosophy I've held on to with my 1:1 scale. You don't need altitude to have fun. More lift equals more breakage. I've had plenty of fun in BamBam, bone stock, and never had to replace ANY part.

Same thing goes for 1:10 scale. I run an HPI Nitro MT. It's a 4x4 stadium truck. It doesn't have the big, gnarly wheels and 8 shocks, but it's faster, more stable over jumps, and sports more durability for a couple hundred dollars less.

I caught the RC bug at a monster truck rally. During intermission, the local RC club came out and started tearing around the course. There were about five of each, monsters, stadium trucks, and buggies. All five of the monsters had serious breakage in five minutes. One of the stadium trucks and one of the buggies broke. Plus, the buggies could clear the three car stack that the REAL monster trucks were clearing. The stadium trucks got real close, and the monsters never cleared the first car (which contributed to the breakage).

But don't mind me. Just my opinion.

I just bought a Sportmaxx...it's a 2wd version of the T-maxx, for those who are not familiar with the Traxxas monsters.

For a limited time you can get a free 2 speed upgrade from Traxxas.

I like the stadium trucks, but since I won't strictly be racing this, I bought it for the graound clearance. I kind of think of it as a big stadium truck. Since we have too much snow, I have only broken in the motor...even that was a blast.

My Electric HPI RS4 MT will be going to my daughter...I like the nitro! ;)

I have both.Electric has not been out of the garage since I got the gas.You are comparing apples to oranges. If you wanna drive around pilons in a parkade, get electric. If you wanna rip chit up and get huge air, get the gas.
