Hey Y'all!! This is Jason's little sister. I just got a 97 X Sport, and am planning to do some work on it. However as I was planning, my brother Jason just happened to take my car and run it into a wall. So, now i am stuck for more than 2 or 3 weeks wihtout it. :mad: Gotta love brothers!! However, the good part is that out of this I'm getting all new and better parts than I started with.

I'm planning on making my X more of a performance show car. I was wondering if any of you had any ideas for me. I'm looking at a small lift kit and some cool rims. I'm also planning on chroming the car out. I already ordered a chrome grill and bumper and am going to work from there. But, if any of you have any ideas just let me know.

I think the ladies forum is a great idea. I know i get some weird looks from guys when they find out i want to do work on my car. They can just wait and see!!:D

I know Spas has a sweet lookin' explorer, she might be able to help you out. Also, there's other guys that have really sweet lookin' X's as well. You should sign up with your own name and just start readin' threads and lookin around, we're glad to have ya!

There are MANY RULES one has to do to become an Explorer babe.
1)First she has to be willing to go to Hooter's with us guys and join in on the fun.
2)She has to be willing to go on the runs with us and help out spotting, moving rocks, videoing, and just looking good.
3)She has to be a knockout.......Opps, I was just dreaming!!!!!
3)If she has fun on the board and she is signed up as a member I think that is all she needs to do. Just PM Rick or Char and I bet they can hook her up......

LOL!!!

1) Well Trish is the best spotter that I have been around (Besides Winter). She gets down and dirty, moving rocks and diging out tires as well as any man. She is the first one up the hill with the video camera and on occations has filmed while spoting two vehicles and moving a rock at the same time.

2)Hooters sucks!

3)She has on very rare occations gone with me to the strip club, She thinks they are stupid and doesnt understand the big deal. I tried to explain that there were naked women in there, that is the big deal. She says, "So"

4)She is definitly a knock out, I only dated hot chicks before I married her! She was the Head Cheerleader in highschool and captian of the dance squad. She looks alot like Jenny McCarthy:D

5)I think her fun on the board will comprise of making fun of me:rolleyes:

I'm just glad to see the wives, girlfriends, etc. out having fun with us. Teri always looks forward to the runs and meeting all the people that show up.

Just don't let the guys start calling you the "Pavement Princess" at get-togethers though! I plan on handing out a little dosage of "Spas-just-dusted-the-lot-of-you-on-the-way-to-the-park" to the fellas at our next shindig to show them who's boss. 'Run with the Big dogs', FEH....It's the little ones who bite! :D

You can't really listen to Char about airing down since they only run like 3-5 pounds but airing down does help out on the ride a LOT!!
Not sure what kind of wheeling you do but in Colorado the rocks will beat you to death if you don't. Plus you get a lot more traction.
Just drive up on a rock and get the tire up to your level maybe. lol

Well Perry, I don't tell people to air down to that low unless they are running beadlocks. At the AZ run I reccommended to one of the guys who was running street tires to go down to 25 lbs so it depends on the tires.

I still only went down to 29...then popped a tire after that. So yeah, I agree with the whole "airing down" thing...

Hey, I must check in here also! I'm new to this site, but not to owning an Explorer. I'm on my third one! Started with a 1993 Sport, then went to a 1996 Sport and now back in january I just bought a 2002 XLT:D
We have a driveway full of Fords! My husband has a 2002 F150 and a 1996 Ford Contour. Both of his are manual trans.
Looking forward to many years with this one. :)

I switched to Explorers when my 1988 Mustang GT was totalled back in 1992. Although that car saved my life, I like the idea of being up higher and able to see more.

congrats, its cool to see a hot girl that likes to spend all her money on an explorer! but how did you get 3" of lift? thats about how much i need my 265's still rub some of the stupid grey trim!

Thanks TarHeel ;) I did the torsion twist, and Rancho add-a-leafs to get my height. Its pretty much to the max. I got pretty good height out of it, since they didnt start making a lift for 97 until recently. I am working on that, but for now, its fine the way it is. My tires dont rub AT ALL! Are you at stock height right now? If so, they must rub bad? You should do like I did, it really makes a big difference, and its not as bad as some people think, Like it being a ruff ride, its really not bad at all. BUT Yours is a 1999, SO you can just buy any kind of LIFT. Lucky you! :p

right there is an issue of money! but i have shackles and the TT so i mean its pretty close to you at about 2". mine already rode pretty rough with the Bilsteins an 4dr leafs, but oh well theres always the sawzall!

I know what you mean about money, thats why I havent got the new lift for my model, but hopefully soon. I think its priced around $1500. One day...... :rolleyes:
For now, I think I'm moving to the 4DR leafs... I guess they are way better quality.

1st you have to be "good looking"
2nd you have to go on some of the big runs such as Moab
3rd you have to put up with all the guys here on the board.

Jessica is a good kid, she will be graduating high school on Monday, completing 4 years of high school work in three years (magnet schools are so great!!). She has an online friend in Michigan she has been talking to for two years, and she will be visiting him in late July. My brother will acting as a chaperone since I have the youngest girl to keep an eye on. Plus, I am horrid when it comes to finding places and my brother will be driving her there. At least they will be comfortable as he will driving his 5-speed XLT to Michigan. In case you are interested in what my girls look like, here are some fairly recent pictures of them :)

Sorry this is long, but i have a lot to say:
I was surfing the net yesterday(while at work, yep im terrible) looking for information on modifying explorers, and somehow I found this site. Im totally stoked that there are so many people who are as in love with explorers as I am.
I was reading though some past postings, and one that really cuaght my attention was where people were talking about how there are very few women who are into trucks and un-stereotypical female things. Its great that there seem to be so many of us, but I'm 18... I don't know any females my age that are into the things I am, like I am (snowboarding 5 times a week, off-roading, riding, mechanics, trucks...etc) So am I the only one of my generation? Lets hope not!
Anyways, to the important stuff:
Modifications I'm doing, but could use some advice on(from the girls or anyone else)...
6" lift, 33's, exuast(flowmaster?), new front end(yeah, i have no 4WD)... any recomendations on anything?

Hey GUYS! JK. My name is Gillian (pronounced Jillian) I'm new the this site but I've been getting help from my husband crazy5711. I love working on cars. I work on mine all the time. I love the look I get from the guys when I tell them that I work on cars myself. My husband loves the fact that I'll go to the auto hobby shop here on base wearing jeans and a wife beater (for those of you who don't know what that is, it's an A shirt in the mens dept.) and come home all greasy and oily. I'm also a big time tom-boy. Back home in Jersey we call A-shirts wife beaters. My husband and I own a '98 X sport, 5 speed manual, 4.0 liter v-6. I myself own a '94 probe. Used to be my brothers car and he bought my dad's 2001 f-150 and sold me the probe. Yes we're a ford family and also a military family. My husband is a Marine and so is my brother. We're stationed on the same base in 29 Palms, CA and my dad was in the Army back in Vietnam. We also have a son going on 3 next month. Just thought I let you guys know a little bit about myself. The reason my username is jedimaster1179 is because Star Wars is my favorite movie ever since I was a kid and the 1179 is the month and year I was born. Well I hope that helps.
