Hi there, after a great ordeal, including breaking off a front sway bar mounting bracket bolt in the frame, i've changed the bushing and stoped the majority of the front end clunking, however, occastionally, i notice that there's a much louder clunk from the rear, almost like a little bang? Any idea what this sould be, i could not replicate it, and it's been -20c here for weeks it seems (sucks), so i really have no idea what it could be. Any help would be appreciated.
THanks
Matt.

Is it the axle shafts sliding in and out?

Can this happen to the front too? with Control Trac?

I get a bang/poping noise when in 4WD or Auto

Can't be hubs?

As far as i know, the 95+ don't have auto hubs, the axles and front shaft spin, they only lock up when needed, so it's all in the transfere case.

Can'tspell does it clunk when slowing down, or letting off of the gas? If so your slip yoke prob just needs greased. Can this happen to the front too? with Control Trac? No your problem is probobly a strectched chain or a faulty Torque On Demand clutch. My TOD clutch has been making a snapping sound for over a year. Im just going to deal with it till it doesn't work anymore then replace it.

I think I may also have the slip yoke sound, but what I was speaking of has gone, or maybe it was never there, who knows. I know the rear suspension is pretty simple, could it be possible to have the rear sway bar busshings go?

well it's back again, but it's not really that bad, I"m sure it's just the cold, but could it be the rear sway bar mounting bushings? Has anyone ever had any problems with this? I know my front right ball joints are starting to squeek as well as the sway bar link was a little loose after replacing the mounting bushings...i can't wait for it to warm up!

I had to have my rear shocks and swaybar bushings replaced cause the thing made cluck noise everytime I went over a bump. And this was under warranty before I hit 36K.

Ahh, so it could be the bushing...well i'm more frustrated by the front, but that's mostly gone. And i suppose a lot of it has to do with the damn cold, i guess it's inveitable for this trucks to rattle and creak, is there any way to stiffen the frame????

My truck was making a grinding/binding from the front today. When I got out to inspect the front the whole thing was covered in 2 inches of ice. I hit a bunch of bumps and a lot of it broke from the sway bar and shocks.
