I live in an area known for getting cars/rims stolen. I really want to get 20's. But im worried I won't be able to sleep because i'd be up all night with a bat watching my truck. Do you think i'd sleep better with 18's? and what size tires should i get with 18's? I don't want to lower it. I want them to fill out though.

Personally I don't think it matters what size wheel you get if they are flashy. I know of some 18's that are more costly than some 20's. I'm getting 18's in the spring and I'm getting 255/55/18's. With that size tire you won't have to worry about messing up your speedo and that stuff. Here's a good thread to read about tire size:

Check out DocVijay's response, it's the fourth one down.

yeah, if they are desirable to have on a truck, then others will desire them as well... if you are worried about it, just leave the stock ones......

I wanted to put rims on it since i bought it 2 years ago. now that i have the money i might have to pass on it. I won't be able to sleep at my girlfriend's place. she lives in da ghetto! I don't know if it would last the night.

ya know, when i bought it. It came with a cut off/kill switch. Its always on and you can't start the car if you don't toggle the switch. or at least i think you can't. Is that any good? or is there a way around that?

If i decide to get the 20's after all. will my speedo get thrown off with 275/45/20?

Thanks guys for all your help!

best way to beat a criminal is to think like a criminal :)

if they're really determined to steal your wheels then they will steal your wheels. but most dont really worry about it. invest in some locking lugs and i think once they see them they'll pass to the next vehicle....and i think all rims now have a locking center cap as well but most are made from a cheap plastic that could easily be broken

EDIT: if you're going to get the locking lug nuts dont buy a popular brand, buy an off brand that way there is no possibility they have a key to unlock the lugs

best bet is buy some locking lug nuts & maybe even an alarm

On my 20s i've got locks soon to be on all lugnuts, and i've also got flame throwers that shoot out of the center caps...i wish but that would be cool

That and make sure you have good insurance that covers aftermarket rims. Just remember, if someone wants them bad enough, they'll probably get them. Don't let a few pansy a$$holes scare you from getting the things you want.

Like everyone else says, don't let possible thievery deter you from buying what ya want for your X....three words--GET THEM INSURED!! cost me like 60 bucks a year for insurance on my 20's and I sleep a lot better at night.:afro:

The ride isnt that bad. I've got the goodyear 275/45/20 tires also. Its well worth it to be rolling on dubs

Jon97, thanks for the compliments on my X. The ride isn't bad (especially compared to my Ranger---hydros+215/40/18 tires=bumpy a$$ ride....lol). If you go with the 275/45s, your ride quality really won't be affected too much at all-if ya went with like a 255/35, it would be a lot worse....post some pics if ya get wheels, I'd like to check it out.
IMO, the Goodyear Eagle GTIIs in 275/45/20 are the best 20" tires for the money, plus they look good on an X...
