View Full Version : tyre change vs gearing/speedo help shaunv8 03-06-2003, 09:39 PM hi all i lifted my 97 explorer 2" all round now im replacing the std 235 x15 with 10.5 r 31 15 any probs forseen with speedo or anything else.... how will gearing go cheers shaun Alec 03-06-2003, 10:06 PM depends on what gears you have now. With the V8 you most likely have 3.73 gears which you'll be ok with. You may have 3.55 which will be a bit worse but not too bad. As for the speedo, you'll be reading about 5 mph low. To fix this you'd need a speedo gear with one less tooth. However, I dunno if your 97 V8 uses a speedo gear or the VSS for the speedo. If it is electronic, you probably won't want to spend the money to get it recalibrated for 31s. Good luck! shaunv8 03-07-2003, 09:09 PM sorry im in OZ wiyh the 4l v6 and kmh any info please |
