I am going to be purchasing a tow strap and I had one question on capacity. I was looking at a 20,000lb capacity but noticed that it only had a 5500lb working load limit. Is this enough?? The explorer weighs around 4000lbs and if you include mud suction maybe close to the working load limit??? My quesiton is: Is the 20,000lb capacity strap enough or should I spring for the 30,000lb strap.
Thanks, Dan

Go for the 30,000. Why not? Better to be safe than sorry. I just ordered some 40,000 pound straps. I figure if the situation ever comes up where it would be close, it'll be comforting to know I've got that extra margin.

I'd go with the 30,000. JC Whitney (http://www.jcwhitney.com) sells 20' and 30' straps in both the 20,000 and 30,000. I plan on getting a new 20' (30,000) strap this summer, cause sometimes my 30' (30,000)is just too long.
