View Full Version : Hmmmm!! Why disconnect Antilock

I was doing some looking on my 91 Sport this weekend trying to find a broken or leaking brake line. My brake pedal wil slowly go to the floor and I get no pressure in the brakes. If I pump them after a few pumps the right side grabs. I am thinking its my master cylinder.

Anyway I noticed that the rear antilock sensor on top of the diff has the wires cut on it. Explains why the antilock brake light is on. Why would someone cut the wires to it. The gears have been changed to 5.13, but would that do anything to the rear antilock brake system?

Perhaps there is a faulty rabbs module, or rear sensor and instead of unplugging the sensor someone cut it as a quick fix.

Its possible that they didn't put the sensor ring (or couldn't put the sensor ring ) onto the ring gear when they switched gears. But I don't have any clue why they would cut the wires to the sensor. Maybe they didn't have a clue either.

Bump -
anyone else have any thoughts on this. I know the gear change work was done by a reputable shop.

No clue why they would cut the wires. You could just pull the fuse to disable the system if that was the goal.
