I bought my 94' X a month ago and it came with a keyless remote system, but the remote key was not with the vehicle...I went to the ford dealership today and they said it would cost $60 to re-program it and another $60 for the remote key....has anyone ever had to do this? I could get a new remote system put in for that much....Thanks

im sure someone will chime in with the exact instructions on how to do both.
but read your manual and it will tell you how to program a key, and the keyless remote.
you can view it online

yeah...ive seen those. The remote really isnt the problem but would it take that much money to program one? The guy made it sound like it would take a lot to go in and reset everything

If it is the OEM keyless entry system from ford, you can order a Fob off ebay like the other members said, and program it yourself in 1 min, in your driveway!
I bought a remote off ebay, for about 10 bucks + shipping.
Look under the "Usefull threads" forum - there are instructions how to do the programming. All you need is one working transmitter, and your key.
If the alarm is non-factory, then you're going to have to do some hunting

When u say working transmitter are u talking about a remote that is already working with my car? Because I dont have any of the old remotes for it

No I sure he's refering to the remote you get from ebay.
Check out the treads he refered to above.

It doesn't make any difference, because you have to reprogram them all at one time. Search for the thread in the useful threads forum. It will show you how to reprogram the remotes
