It started with no headlights would come on when truning to headlight mode. Flashing the lights once and they worked again. After a while they totaly colapsed and only posisionligts worked. High lights worked in "pulled back" mode (flash mode). If I were lucky I could get them back if I jugle with the control for turn indicator and high and low light. All the time my tail lights worked. The car is a '97 4x4 High Class 4,0 V6.
Any one got an ide ?

Did you take the bulb out to see if the filament (spelling) was broke.... It realy sounds like the bulb was going out and it finaly did... That would be the first thing to check...

Yes, I check the bulbs and they are ok. The lights "comes and goes" If they work and I go to high light and than back agian they fall out. I wonder if it is a problem in the contactor.

Probably a problem with the "multifunction switch". This is the stalk off the steering column with the lights, wipers, flashers, etc. You could try taking it apart and inspecting and cleaning it, or replacing it.

Could just be the problem ! When I think about it, the flush for the frontwindow is also a bit tricky and it's in the same control.

Any one knows from wich year the multifunction switch is the same as on the '97

Alec is right, I had the same problem early last year and it turned out I was able to clean the contacts on the multifunction lever for it to work but I ended up replacing the lever afterwards just to be safe.
