Bought the Fram fuel filter. Filter has two blalck protective caps on the ends plus two while plastic clips loosely attached to each stem between the caps and the filter body. Each clip has a flange about a half inch long sticking out of it. Are these the fuel filter release jiggies or what?????????

Yes they are and you need a special tool to remove them. Its just a little plastic wedge (kinda) that costs about another 2 dollars.

These plastic things are on the NEW filter. They are about an inch and a half long with a quarter to half inch wedge on the end. I can remove these easily with my hand. I am assuming these are the tools needed to remove the old filter????

Yes, you need a special tool to release the clips to remove your current filter.

I know I need a tool to remove the old fuel filter. My question is about the two plastic doohickeys that came attatched to the NEW Fram filter. Are these the doohickeys you need to remove the old filter? There is one on each stem of the new filter, are easily removed by hand, are about an inch and a half long, and have a spade shaped flange on the end. They are white plastic. Thanks!

If memory serves me right, I think you can just put those on the old filter to keep fuel from leaking out.

No, they are not the "tool" you need as far as I know. (if I am understanding the question properly)
