View Full Version : Major Frontend Knocking...Help

V8 Explorer

Hey guys, hope you can help me out here.
I have a '98 V8 Explorer and it is knocking badly in the frontend on both sides. The tires are also leaning with the inside tread getting worn.

Anybody know whats going on? I've been told upper control arms..that's $500+ to fix; but I've also been told it is the balljoints..that's $200+ to fix.

I'd like to know that I'm not going to have my frontend collapse at anytime.

Thanks

Could be a combination of both problems. Doesn't sound good. May pay to get everything replaced at once and save on future labor charges.

Maybe it's the kevlar patches that are on your torsion bars, maybe they're worn out.

I had all ball joints and both upper control arms done on mine. Alignment was also done. The outcome was all the clunks are gone, it tracks straight and best of all I just paid off the extended warranty that the sales manager said I had to buy or he would not sell me the truck. The sales manager is a friend, it wasn't just a way of making money. He did tell me that the warranty would pay for itself and he was right.
