Hi,
Anybody know where the switch is to turn the dome lights OFF when the tailgate is UP?
I found it once a long time ago, but can't remember now.

This for drive-in movie time!!

thanks much

the switch itseld is actually part of the latching mechanism in the left side tailgate latch, i sometimes drive with the gate open and you must fool the switch into thinking the leftside striker latch is closed..... the bad part is when you forget its latched and try to close the gate, makes a gut wrenching sound :)

how do you keep the latch mechanism in?

its a standard striker latch... it has a channel that opens itself up like a C but when it closes, its closes in an O type shape wrapping itself around the striker.... with the door open, you just close the C to the O by reaching on the left side of the tailgate, and physically closing the open C... basically, althoguht the door is open, it thinks that it is closed......

On my '97 you have to close the latch on both sides to get the lights to turn out. There are also two positions on the latch. You have to push both "C" clamps in on each latch to the second position. When you do, the lights shut off. As was mentioned earlier, be sure and turn your handle to unlatch your latches before attempting to close your hatch or you may destroy your latches.

To add...In first gens only ONE of the two striker latches on the driver side is the switch. Don't bother closing both.

I am guessing only the second gen have the off switch for the int. light.

*sigh* drive in movies, wow. Only a memory around these parts.

Where in PA is this drive in theater?
( Please say south east PA )

Yeah, that switch wasn't even arond in 91-94. We had the pull out headlight switch, with built in dimmer...

Thanks everyone,
I forgot it was so simple, with the latch.
Probably going to the Drive in next weekend, but I didn't want to spend a half hour of the movie figuring that out.
Our drive in is in NE PA, near Wilkes Barre.
If you check our driveinn.com, or driveinns.com, they list all the existing theaters in the u.s.
