View Full Version : resurface rotors?

I replaced my front brake pads and my brakes have a high pitch squeal when I stop. I tried putting some brake cleaner all over and that didn't help much. The rotors look alright, no major grooves or anything. I'm wondering if I should have my rotors resurfaced at Pep Boys? One possibility that I can think of is that the new pads I got are just barely larger than the old ones, and it's scraping some of the rust on the rotor. Any ideas?

thats a good possibility...
anothe possibility is that you need some "anti-squeal" on the back of the pads..
yet another possibility is you bought pads with a high metal content and thats just their nature.... and it will never go away!!

Did you sand the rotors? You might have some glazing causing the squeal. And, it could be just the pads are not seated yet.
