Does anyone use this? There was a blurb about iit in this month's Truck Trend. There are also all kinds of claims on their website, such as increased horsepower, only changing every 12,000 miles, etc. Also, does anyone use any of the other Royal Purple products such as EFI cleaner, grease, transmission fluids? Thanks.

Royal Purple is supposed to be good. But..but..I would be wary of any publication or company that claimed motor oil would increase horsepower. This is simply grandstanding. Personally, I use AMSOIL.

I have heard a lot of good things about it, but never used it personally. Like he said i would be skeptical about the horsepower gains.

being that much better of a lubricant, I bet it would show a power gain, on an engine dyno. Very very small, like maybe 1hp or less. Just like their gas mileage claim. Most people dont notice 2-3 tenths of a mile to a gallon.

You guys might want to check out www.bobistheoilguy.com Some used oil analysis show that Royal Purple isn't anything special.

Bob's site is a weath of information on different kinds of oils.

it has been proven, time and time again, that switching to synthetics in the motor, tranny, and rear-end is worth 5-8hp on the rear wheel dyno. i know alot of race guys that swear by Royal Purple. as far as it gaining hp, any full synthetic will gain a few ponies over dino oil.

Hear is what I have run Royal Purple in:
-1992 Ford Ranger (red one)
-1992 Ford Explorer (Green one)
-2001 Ford Sport Trac (black one)
-1994 Ford Explorer (plum one)
-1992 Ford Explorer (white one)
-2001 Ford Escape (green one)

I love Royal Purple. Run it in all the vehicles. All of these vehicles are lifted and ran daily in the Dallas traffic. They are all run hard. If anything I notice that the vehicle runs a little cooler w/ the Royal Purple.

GOOD STUFF and I have used it for years now.

Royal Purple has a good rep.
I use the Royal Purple Ice in the coolant
mostly to protect against corrosion and help
heat transfer.

And it's made only 20 minutes up the road.
