Howdy!
I have spent several hours reading every archived post I could find using different words to describe what is happening to my 1998 EB 5.0 AWD Explorer (sputter, bog, falter, intermittant hesitation, etc...)
Here is what happens...
Case #1: My wife goes to leave work and pulls out onto a heavy traffic highway, nails the gas- the engine falls flat on its face for about 1/10th of a second (long enough for the woman behind her to come REALLY close to rear-ending my wife...) then it takes off and runs fine... this has happened to me several times too- it's like someone killed the power, and then it runs fine...
The problem is that it never does it the same way twice (however it almost always does it in front of a diesel truck coming down on you at 75 mph!) But it is always when it is floored and usually after it has sat for a while and you start it and take off...
Case #2: After driving 20 miles at an average of 65 mph., I had to slow down to enter an on-ramp - it does the same thing, only that time it was not under a load.
I am thinking it is the IAC or TPS... It does not have a CEL on...
What do the EX gurus think???
Thanks for any and all replies...
