View Full Version : Lifting a Hummer H2 model 1 inch :D
Brandons 07-27-2003, 12:17 AM Well yeah, as the title says, im lifting a "MODEL" Hummer H2 1". Well heres how it goes
i was in denial about buying a 302 for $25, and fixing it up, so i just started modding my hummer. Well using windshield wiper blades for rear leaf springs, and plan to buy some coil springs for the front from a hardware store. So heres the pics!

X~FACTOR 07-27-2003, 12:35 AM Someone is really really bored. Man, get a second job or something. :D
GaSouthern1 07-28-2003, 02:10 AM That looks cool man, make sure to have some pics up, some of us are interested.:p
Crankcase 07-28-2003, 04:05 AM This needs to be in the Model forum. Cool:D
Brandons 07-28-2003, 03:31 PM Yeah i need to stop by a hardware store to buy the front coil springs, im gonna run the front as solid axle with 4-link or whatever its called (robb reccomended it). But i need to get some glue sticks and some materials:D. Hopefully it will be done before i leave on 2 week vacation.
The only problem is the leaf springs (windshield wiper blades) has very little travel with the weight of the model, and the springs i might get probably dont as well, should i just let it be a "stand still" model, or actually working suspension that can flex and stuff, if i was to make it work right, id need to add some wieght.
HEHE the next thing of any concern is working steering, it will be extremely hard to make, but il do it. any seggestions for materials on something of this size? also i am going to bolt the front wheels onto the axle i put on, and i should also have a way for that to steer.
Then some of the final details would be shock absorbers, sure something this size does not need them, but lil fake ones would be pretty cool to look at.
Heres what the suspension is like stock on one of these :D

snocross1985 07-28-2003, 05:02 PM how much does it cost to buy a model like that?
Brandons 07-28-2003, 06:45 PM id figure around $35 Canadian, $25 USA
snocross1985 07-28-2003, 07:04 PM What company makes that and where could i buy that brand of models? I have loved to do cars but i would love to build up a model truck!
oh ya: what scale is that? 1:18?
Brandons 07-28-2003, 07:41 PM yeah 1:18, i bought mine from Toys R US:D
it basically sucks, suspension hits the fenders, steering is a lil sloppy, but its a good start:D im modding this one cause i snapped the front wheels off
Soundguy01tx 07-29-2003, 12:05 AM check out www.Thortek.com Its alocal company, but supposedly pretty large in the model world. Also, they own harddrive.com. Just purchased a old grocery store and are using it as their offices... Pretty impressive to hav ethat much business to use an entire groccery store haha.

Brandons 07-29-2003, 12:47 AM cool
dan swedish man 08-24-2003, 03:17 PM cool!
i built a 1:20 scale CJ7 golden eagle with spring over lift and yellow old man emu shocks... ;)
it also sports in bed custom tire carrier (no backseat)
mean green alternator, cb, fire extinguisher, jerry cans, etc.
Brandon whats the latest? Did you get the front axle on?
Brandons 08-24-2003, 04:25 PM sorry to say, i havent even constructed the front axle. I went on a 2 week vacation when i was getting the leaf springs to hold in right. The front axle is gonna be really hard, especially since im incorperating steering and suspension.
And now im painting the back of the X so thats gonna take time, so not for a while will i get the H2 done.
williecume 08-24-2003, 08:45 PM once you get the hummer lifted buy this camper for it to tow.
