MrShorty 08-19-2003, 04:43 PM You only lost OD? The 3-4 shift on these is electronically controlled by the PCM. The first thing I would do is figure out if I'd lost OD because the PCM wasn't telling the transmission to shift into 4 or because the transmission was unable to shift into 4. Check the OD control circuit and make sure there are no broken wires or bad connections and make sure the solenoid is getting power. Once you determine that the electrical stuff external to the transmission is doing its job, then worry about going inside the transmission. Felix 08-20-2003, 10:04 AM You need to find out which trans you have, cause the ones with trailer tow like mine have the A4LD hydrolic trany. I have seen these rebuilt at AAMCO and have also heard about ArtCar performance trany rebuilding them. Also, there is a kickdown linkage under the little plastic crap around your throdle body. The kick down likage uses a little plastic bushing to snap into place these wearout and cause the trans to not want to shift right. Sometimes its causes it to shift way way to early, like jump from first to fourth in a matter of 40 feet. You could check that while your looking for a replacement tranny. mr. peenut 08-20-2003, 12:09 PM This moring i got into my explorer started it up. put it in over drive. drives fine untill i hit the gas hard. so it's sliping. if any one has got any input on this let me know thanx Felix 08-20-2003, 02:42 PM take it to aamco and have them freshen up your tranny, or that is what it sounds like it needs to me. When is the last time you changed your tranny fluid, and/or is it low on fluid? It sounds like you over heated the tranny, which is causing it to slip or it is just worn out. It probly needs new clutches and a overdrive band installed in it. mr. peenut 08-20-2003, 05:25 PM I dont think its ever been changed and its got 165,000 so i think ill get a used one from a junk yard for $75 sell the explorer get one with less miles. thanx for the help p.s. when puting a new one in any thing special i need to know..... |
