View Full Version : Tires
Nicaraguense 08-19-2003, 07:09 PM All Right. My X is stock. I want to eventually get the 4" suspention lift. But, right now I just don't have the means. If I understand right, I can put 32's on my 2000 explorer if I put a 2" lift Right? Is that talking about the torsion bar lift (and rear shackles)? If so, that will be cool for the time being. Also, the body lifts, ¿Are they real expensive? I know the 4" suspention lift is ($1,499.99 at the Auto Zone where I work) and add to that the $600 new front drive shaft.
Texplorer 08-19-2003, 07:16 PM You can fit 32's with a little trimming with a 2" TT/shackles. Or you can do a 2 or 3" body lift. The body lifts are about $100 for the 2" and $135 for the 3". Welcome to the site.
GaSouthern1 08-19-2003, 07:33 PM there are a few brave souls that have dont TT, AAL, Shackles and a 3 inch BL and put on 35s....with some good use of a sawzall.
Nicaraguense 08-19-2003, 07:57 PM Would the torsion bar thing alone allow me to fit the 32's under it. Also, Is that a really amazing difference? I have bottomed out a few times already and am really not impressed. (I also have 29" tires that don't have tread for nothing). Also, Just how much of a bear is it going to be to take my gas tank out (I have to change it some day I have already knocked a significant dent in it) these 2" body lifts. ¿Where can I get one at that price? Also, any major Ford dealership will be able to adjust my electronic speedometer for just a 1hr. labor charge ¿right?
GaSouthern1 08-19-2003, 08:06 PM You will have to trim a bit to fit 32x1150s and you hear/feel the tire hit the top of the wheel well when you hit speed bumps at excessive speed. Cant help with the gas tank, sorry.
Nicaraguense 08-19-2003, 09:54 PM where can I get this 2" body lift for that price of about $100? I know where I can get shackles and I can do the 2" torsion bar thing myself.
Texplorer 08-20-2003, 10:56 AM Try summitracing.com, thats the cheapest place I found them at. You need the 2" 98 Ranger body lift.
Nicaraguense 08-22-2003, 12:27 AM How about the 2" Shackle? The only thing I can find in Jonesboro is a 1½" Shackle. Also, Can I go a full 2" with a torsion twist on a 2000 XLT 4x4 without twisting them to the max? Or do I just have to experiment myself?
wired_af 08-22-2003, 12:39 AM at 2 inches you indanger ur cv joints
Nicaraguense 08-22-2003, 12:42 AM I thought it was anything over 2" that endangered the CV joints. I don't want any more than that.
Texplorer 08-22-2003, 11:09 AM Anything over 2" is not recommended. For the shackles you have to get Warrior shackles, part #153. They sell them at 4wp or desert rat. You have to call because they arent listed on their websites.
Nicaraguense 08-22-2003, 02:11 PM Thanks Texplorer. ¿How much do they cost do you happen to know that?
Nicaraguense 08-22-2003, 11:21 PM Those rims you were talking about. ¿How much are they? and ¿What color are they?
Texplorer 08-23-2003, 11:23 AM I got my shackles shipped to me for $56 from 4WP. What rims were you asking about???
Nicaraguense 08-23-2003, 12:13 PM Texplorer that was another post. I think I asked about rims in another post. Sorry. Who is 4WP? How do I get in touch with them to get these 2" shackles?
Texplorer 08-23-2003, 12:44 PM 4wheelparts.com
The number is somewhere on their website. You have to call and ask them for the Warrior shackles for the Explorer. If you look around at desertrat.com or tellico4x4.com and call them all to find the cheapest price. 4WP should price match the lowest price you find.
Nicaraguense 08-24-2003, 12:27 AM Thanks Texplorer. I am going to do that as soon as I can. By the way, if I put the 33's on, am I going to have a way major serious loss of power? I mean I know I am going to lose power but just how bad will it be? And wanting bigger tires, without sacrificing power on the alter of ground clearance, Should I just go with 32's?
