View Full Version : Got 33's - which fender flares?
My 33" tires are sticking way too much.... I don't really want to get in trouble with the law so I'm looking for some aftermarket fender flares... What you guys got on there? WARN? BUSHWACKER?
give me some ideas, please.
NOTAJP 08-24-2003, 11:37 PM I had Warn flares on my sport and they were great. Looked good and were very durable.
Redrig 08-24-2003, 11:40 PM do you really want them or are you worried about the law? if you dont want them id go check with a local inspection station to see if it will pass. if you havent already.
I just went with these cheap Saddleman brand generic fender flares that were quite cheap. I just didn`t want to put out the cash for the big names. I also was worried about the fit after trimming a little.
I don`t know, it`s a cheap option worth consideration..
the bushwaker ones are a shit load of cash my friend was quoted like 300 bucks for them on his gmc 1500
thats freaking ridiculous considering their plastic that they spit out of molds
yeh so way to much money so he didn't get them.
he'd much rather get a full 3inch exhaust for that kinda cash.
I don't think warn flairs will be any less.
all those fender flares are pretty costly, I know. I have not checked to make sure my truck is legal.... we don't have to pass inspections here in IL... I know that tires can not stick out more than the widest part of the truck... either fender flares or bumpers... I have had no problems in the past but heck.... you never know.
I was also thinking about getting some rubber (reinforced with some kind of stuff) and just cut it to fit... still thinking though.
bigred93explrer 08-27-2003, 04:01 PM ld50 how much were those and where did you get them? they are kinda what im looking for, they are mellow and look decent.
Saddleman generic 2"fender flares = $50.00 (CANADIAN)
I got them at the local parts store (lordco) they are pretty rugged and mount with screws to the lip of the fenders, I`ve grabbed them on small trees and stuff with no problems. They are rubber, with these metal inserts that you screw through. I tied in the rears with a generic mud flap to make it a little cleaner.
bigred93explrer 08-27-2003, 07:33 PM cool i will have to look for somewhere like pepboys or something, are the screws visible or are they hidden on there? can they be painted too?
I painted mine, along with the metal insert parts that were visible.
They are kind of a chore to mount, nice to have two drills and some help if you can.
NOTAJP 08-27-2003, 07:59 PM Id50, that looks nice. I paid $280 for my Warn flares on my sport. Not cheap but they were tough. Out west, the State Police are anal about tire coverage.
that's what I was really looking for... but Warn makes sense too... still looking around...
SplashMan 08-28-2003, 11:22 AM Dre, JC Whitney sells generic flairs for different applications(mount on the inside or outside of wheel-well) and they come in different widths too... that is where I am getting the ones for my B2.
the State Police are anal about tire coverage.
No kidding, I would much rather go without, but the police were trapping guys at the entrances to wheeling areas and tire coverage was high on the list.
