View Full Version : Kumho Venture MT's in my future?!?
Lifted95X 09-04-2003, 08:12 AM Well...if everything goes as planned I will be riding on a new set off 33's within a week. I have looked at the reviews for this tire and everything seems pretty positive, and, I really can't beat this deal.
I have run a few searchs on here and came up with some info, but wanted to post this for newbies and such that could possibly be running these and could provide some info on wear and such.
Thanks
Lifted95X 09-04-2003, 09:17 AM Well...tires are ordered...will have them by latest Monday. I guess I will give my review once they get used.
MrShorty 09-04-2003, 12:25 PM My brother runs those tires on his '79ish Toyota pickup and likes them. He doesn't put a lot of miles on them, but they've been around for about five years or so. And he gets around just fine through the mud/snow/etc.
Back when i was looking @ 35s i was looking at those tires and every review i read was very positive.
Lifted95X 09-04-2003, 12:28 PM Cool. The tread looks good, and the reviews seem show that most people were suprised. Hopefully I won't be let down, especially from going from MTR's to these.

Lifted95X 09-10-2003, 10:24 AM Ok...I got the tires. So far, so good. Very sticky tire, seems to corner very well. The sidewall is not quite as stiff as my MT/R's were. The ride as of now is very smooth and quiet, granted these are one day old, I'm sure that will change. I will keep people updated.

Truck looks great. Love the new wheels and meat.;)
X~FACTOR 09-10-2003, 10:44 AM Nice! I just asked the same question about these tires here (http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87476) . Only mine is for a little Rav4. Yea, the reviews are great on these tires. Cheap too!
udmsvt 09-10-2003, 10:58 AM ya know ,its funny......my old rock crawlers look SO much better onyour rig, and your old ultras look kick-arse on mine! i'll get some pics up tonite or tomartow. what did you end up doing with those other 32s?
BTW, lifted's rig looks 10x better in person......trust me on this!
expo5.0 09-10-2003, 12:16 PM it looks great. thats a really good combination of lift and tire size (both height and width) for a sport.
i hope to see it again soon since its changed so much since last time i saw it in person.
alphabets13 09-10-2003, 12:27 PM how does your X ride with that setup? is it really bumpy or not so bad?
Lifted95X 09-10-2003, 12:28 PM The ride is great. Much better than stock, I also have the Rancho adjustables.

I think it is the fine craftsmanship in the installation of that lift. Not to mention where he got it from. Two thumbs up;)

yeah, i herad about that! so when are we gonna do my SOA? :D
um, how does next NEVER sound!;)
I gotta find the time to work on my own junk before I start working on others again:chug:
udmsvt 09-10-2003, 01:24 PM oh i hear ya! it'll be about 2 yrs before i do a SOA and i want to do a SAS around the same time, but only if i can get a second vehicle.
JoshC 09-10-2003, 02:30 PM Looks good 95, why not go with 35's?
Lifted95X 09-10-2003, 02:41 PM Then I would have to deal with more trimming, more bearings/hubs going, and stressing the tranny even more until I get my 4.56. I am happy with these, proportions seem good.
Hokie 09-10-2003, 03:03 PM So NOW you sell your Ultra's... I see how it is ;) Looks great by the way, makes that KJ look pathetic next to yours :D

he didnt sell them. we traded. they are on my rig now!:D
Lifted95X 10-21-2003, 08:16 AM Well after a trip to the mounds and more road use I figured I would update some.
Tires seemed to clean well in the mud. I haven't really tested them much but so far I am still very happy. They seem to be wearing slowly, but I am in need of an alignment and a rotation/balance. Still pretty quiet on the road but still have that nice soothing hum to them.
For the cost, I cannot complain at all. I deflated them to 20PSI for the mounds trip and they didnt squat much. I ran one real hard into a stump without any issues.
Again, there is not much I have done to really push these, but, from what I have done, plus the reviews I have read make this a good purchase for me. They are definately a lot better in the rain than the MT/R's. They stick to the ground much better. Snow season is around the corner, and I will update again.
A couple action pics.
